So here is the finale of my series and the finale of But Seriously, in which we learn how everyone is doing after the last chapter.   Plus, images are under the cut.

Epilogue - Take Me Home

November 14th, 2009
            Upstate NY
The young writer sighed and looked over what she had written. Silently, she read through it, occasionally correcting some grammar and spelling mistakes.
            The text read:
“It’s been over a year since the twins were born. Since Samantha lost her cool against Jeremy Clarkson. Since Christine was told off by everyone, causing her to start changing her line of thinking. Some things have changed, but the rest has remained the same… somewhat. I’ve kept in contact with many of my new friends, whether it’s through the occasional visit overseas or through e-mails and regular letters.

Ryan and Colin are still very much in love and doing their best surviving Ethan and Lea, who are in their terrible two’s phase. Thankfully, Mack, Luke, Sam, and Claire are keeping them in line. They’re growing up so fast. At least they’re healthy… and taking after their fathers. Mackenzie and I still keep in touch through e-mails and she sent me the latest pictures of her little brother and step-sister. Luke…, that’s another story for another time.

Ryan is still touring with Chip, Greg, and Jeff while Colin’s back with Brad. They still do a show or two together for special occasions, like last year’s Urban Improv show. Both Ryan and Colin are still doing film appearances - Ryan on “Two and a Half Men” and Colin in a few movies. I saw Colin and Brad a few months ago performing. They’re still as funny as ever, trying out a few new things to spice up their games.  I think Colin’s still shaken up by the suggestion I gave during interrogation.  I guess he never saw any of Paul’s old shirts he used to wear on Have I Got News For You.

Greg has been appearing on a show on Nickelodeon called “True Jackson MP”, which surprised me. What surprised me even more was his hair on the show - it’s poofier that ever. I swear it has a mind of its own. He and Ryan have done a few shows alone together and got Colin involved in it a few times. It’s nice to see the three of them are still keeping the trio together.

Brad and Sean’a have been talking about having a child after seeing Paul and Tony’s twins. I heard that Brad swore off sex once he heard Sean’a saying that. He better be careful or he’ll be the one having the kid. The tech’s available know, so it’s possible. He’s still keeping an eye out on Colin during the shows and vice verse.

I’ve heard from Patti that Chip’s nightmares are finally stopping, thank god. He still needs a friendly (or romantic) reminder that he’s really free from Lolita, but after going through what he and the others went through, I don’t blame him. He’s still keeping Jeff in line during those shows and he’s finally starting to return to the Chip many of us are familiar with.

Speaking of Jeff, he and Melissa are starting to get more serious now, which is surprising to a lot of us, but I think this might be “the one” for Melissa. Melissa’s been doing well, apart from an almost complete nervous breakdown after Michael Jackson’s death a few months ago.  I’m proud to say, however, that she’s planning on going to Second City Chicago to follow in some of our friends’ footsteps. If that happens, she’ll really become like Clive - an improviser who knows Judicial Law. She’s also been doing a lot of travelling back and forth to see Jeff while he’s touring with Ry, Greg, and Chip, so maybe there might be wedding bells in the distance for them.

Talking of future wedding bells, Richard has finally proposed to Josie and they’re planning their wedding date. All the comments I’ve been hearing lately is “It’s about time they got together”, mostly from those who really know those two. I think its sweet they’re finally getting together. Josie’s still teasing Richard about his freak-out when we all first saw Tony and Paul’s twins.

I haven’t heard much from Wayne, which is not really surprising. He distanced himself from all of us after his divorce and the Lolita incident and had his “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” show.   Plus he’s hosting the new version of “Let’s Make a Deal”.  It’s a shame though, he and Chip, Brad and Jeff were really good friends.

Drew’s been busy with hosting “The Price Is Right” and had a special April Fools edition with Kathy/Mimi as one of the show girls. He and Nicole are officially together and married, still no talks about kids yet, but there might. He still does his Improv All Stars on occasion with Ryan, Colin, and the guys. Nice to see that some friendships still remain after all this time.

Talking of friendships lasting, Samantha has still stuck by my side, even after all the hell we’ve been through. She still wants to belt Clarkson one again, especially after one of last year’s episodes of HIGNFY, what with Clarkson throwing that pen at Ian and drawing blood. I’m surprised Ian or Paul didn’t do anything to him after that… or they’re not telling us what they did in order not to scare us. Melissa thinks that Paul belted Clarkson over the head off-stage with that shoe he was offering to Ian.

Will and Alicia are starting to go steady, finally. Dad’s still ribbing him about his oldest child finally finding his other half, but Will’s taken it with a grain of salt. He’s still enjoying his work, but is really starting to loosen up a bit and has visited Alicia across the ocean twice already.

Speaking of loosening up, Christine’s finally removing that oak tree from her ass and starting to relax more. She’s still serious at times since she’s now Lennie’s official caregiver since his MS is starting to make it harder for him to get around. Lennie’s not too upset since now he remains in contact with Jim Sweeny, both men becoming good friends. I’m glad he knows someone who knows what he’s going through and can help him out.

Mom and Dad are still very much in love, but have been having the occasional rough spots due to our family problems with She-who-must-not-be-named. Dad’s been trying to find a new job after getting laid off from his old job while Mom’s doing her best to help support us. Despite all of this, they still care a lot about each other. Mom also reunited with an old friend from her past and they’ve been spending a lot of time e-mailing each other. Dad, meanwhile, messed up his other foot in July, which caused some problems at home, but he’s finally recovering, thank God.

Stephen and Hugh have managed to keep their relationship mostly a secret from the news media, but they’re still dropping a few hints in recent interviews and pictures. (If you two are reading this, you’re not really fooling anyone in that picture of you two on the Bones set) Stephen, who has lost a good chunk of weight since I last saw him, is working on the next season of QI and “Kingdom” had aired its third season. Hugh meanwhile, had finished the latest season of House M.D. and begun the next season. I’m wondering if he’s planning on having his boyfriend make an appearance in this new season.

The Comedy Store regulars are still at it, making people laugh and have fun two days a week. Greg occasionally goes overseas and has fun causing trouble for Lee, Neil, Suki, Mike and the gang. They had a big moment a while ago, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Comedy Store, so I wished them lots of love for that. I saw the photos of the celebration - I’m sure they were behaving themselves… although some of the reports of the shows a few of my internet friends may say otherwise. (Andy, I’m looking at you, my friend)

Tony and Paul have officially survived their first year of being parents. Sarah and Daniel are doing fine from what I’ve heard from Tony and Paul. Paul and Tony introduced the twins on the first episode of the new season last year in October, putting many rumours to rest. Thankfully, the amount of anger towards them wasn’t as bad as they feared since the Mpreg operation has been proven to be quite successful, not to mention the amount of support from their friends and fellow comedy allies. There was a small scare in November when Paul got sick from a minor kidney infection, but he pulled through. Paul’s still keeping Have I Got News For You going with Ian, even after the reveal of the twins, and is working on his next travel series. Tony’s finished working with Stephen on Kingdom and appeared with Paul at the Comedy Store anniversary that I had previously mentioned.

As for me? Well, I’m still searching for a stable job and been busy writing this damn story for the past several years. I’ve also been helping dad recover from his broken foot and surgery. I’m still keeping in touch with everyone the best I can. I’ve also started to really take care of myself, already doing down two pants sizes.

It’s funny. When I first started writing this series, I considered it as a side project, occasionally using excerpts for my writing classes at College. I never thought it would end up being a four part series that people who’ve read it encouraging me to get it published. I may or may not publish it, but who knows?

I certainly didn’t know how much of an affect meeting Ryan, Colin, Greg, Tony and all the others would have on me. These men and women, these people, have been such an inspiration for me. Even before I met them, I wanted to be like them. But after officially meeting them, becoming friends with them (some a bit closer) I realize that knowing them is much better than being them. I may not be as close to some of them as others, but I still care about them.

Back in 2006 when this whole mess happened, I never thought anything would come from this. But now I’ve met many new people, travelled to places I never thought I’d go, and done things I never thought in a million years I’d do. I still have the occasional nightmare of Lolita or her men coming after me in the middle of the night, but once I awaken, I remember that, even though some dreams do come true, some don’t. Lolita is dead and her men are locked up far away, none of them knowing who I was or what my name is. None of them even know that I, or my family, Samantha, Alicia, or Melissa, exist.

I still regret not being able to do more back then (like saving Pat Stiles and Debra Mochrie) but I am fully aware of my limitations. Melissa still thinks at some times we could’ve done more as well, but her ideas were - and still are - unbelievable and impossible to do. We are not the superheroes you read about in comic books like Superman, Batman, Flash, or Spiderman, nor are we the heroes you see on the big screen like Captain Kirk, Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones or Robocop. We, including myself, are just ordinary people that got involved in something we had no real control over, but we did what we could and, miraculously, we lived as did most of those we wanted to save. And I think that is what it means to really be a hero.

I think the Lord had a hand in this, but I am not really sure. It’s the only way I can explain how my friends, family and I survived all the crap we’ve been through in the past three years. If there is a God, I thank He, She, or It for helping me, my family and my friends - both young and old - through this and for being gracious to all of us. That is all I can do. Because I am human. Because I am not strong, fast, or super smart. Because I am not what you’d think a hero would be.

And I think that makes me proud to be who I am.”

“Julie, Luke’s here.”
            “Alright, mom, I’m coming.”
Julie stood up and clicked “save” on the text file she had been typing. She turned, grabbed her purse and keys, and made her way into the other room, brushing back several strands of hair out of her brown eyes. She smiled at the young man in the room, waiting for her.
He had curly golden brown hair and brown eyes. He wore casual clothes and was playing with a brown and white Springer Spaniel puppy, one that took the place of a dearly departed black lab.
The young man stood up, smiling.
“You ready to go?” He asked, extending a hand to the brunette.
Julie smiled and took his hand in hers. “I am now, Luke.” Julie replied.
“Now remember to be careful driving and to call once the movie’s over.” Janet reminded. Julie rolled her eyes, a lopsided smile on her face.
“We’ll be just fine, mom! Will, Melissa, and Alicia are going with us and it’s just Michael Jackson’s This Is It, for crying out loud. Nothing bad is going to happen. Besides, we can keep Melissa in line if she starts going crazy.” Julie sighed. Janet smiled tiredly, brushing a few strands of short dark brown hair behind her daughter’s ear.
“I know, honey. You four be careful out there and no drinking, you got it.” Janet told them, eyeing Will and Alicia, who were already at the door.
“We’ll be careful, mom.” Will stated. “Come on, you two.” Will then called to Julie and Luke. The two in questioned then turned, patting the small dog on the head, and exited the house with Will and Alicia.
The computer screen was still on as they left, a final paragraph added as an afterthought before the writer left.

“My name is Julie Sanders. I’m 23 years old and a college graduate. I like writing, drawing, making music videos, playing video games and acting. One day, almost three years ago, I got involved in something big that could’ve gotten me, my two best friends, and my family killed.

And I have absolutely no regrets.”

And that is the end. Thank you everyone who has read all of this series and for commenting on it. I may do some more Whose Line in the future. I still have some ideas and semi-finished written ideas that I may transfer to computer, but who's to know.

So thank you for everything.
