So yet another music post because I'm in a music-y mood this year so far I guess!

First: the ED of the new Atelier game is surprisingly grungy. NOT what I was expecting from modern iterations of the franchise (light fluffy slice-of-life fantasy), LOL.

(Nice track -- alas, can't stand the singer in most of their other songs.)

Faith Yaaaaaaaang -- or I guess she goes mostly by her Chinese name now, so Naiwen. I lost track of her for a few years -- looked her up tonight wondering if she'd done anything new recently and it turns out YES. She just released an album in December! I LOVE this woman's voice, but her songs have been hit and miss for me.

My old favorite (and the first one of hers I heard) was a collab with another of my favorite artists, Wu Bai:

Yi Ge Ren [very loosely Just You] (this is still probably my #1 fave of her songs)

She's done some AMAZING covers:

Falling Slowly (that one song... tbh I think her cover is the best version, not that I'm biased or anything :P)
The Scientist (Coldplay; I like both versions about equally, but slightly prefer her interpretation as I find it easier to relate to, in a sense. That said, I'm not a hardcore Coldplay fan...)

She performed once with Jam Hsiao (my other fave singer) OMG SQUEEEEEEE BE STILL MY FANGIRL HEART the textures of their voices are perfect for each other you have no idea I swear I would KILL for them to do a more serious collab someday (dream team: wu bai/naiwen/jam hsiao collab YES PLS PLS PLS PLS, though I'd settle for another wu bai/naiwen collab someday too as the most likely possibility T_T):

Xing Xing Dui Man Tian [loosely Starry Sky] (yes Jam is the most adorable live performer ever)

As for her new album -- I've only done a very rushed listen so far, and overall I think it's my favorite of hers that she's ever put out (I like the happy medium she's found between the softer pop she was doing for a while and the harder punk stuff she started with [and happy that she kept the more playful elements]), but my faves:

Ri Luo Xi Chen [loosely Sunset's Departed] (mmm. I suspect this is gonna become one of my all-time faves of hers after the Wu Bai collab)

Wo Cong Lai Bu Dong Ni De You Mo [I've Never Understood Your Humor]

Xiao Xin Wo Sa Ye [loosely Beware My Wild Side] (not as strong as the previous two, but I am such a sucker for sass)

Beautiful Life (she really doesn't need all those effects on her voice tho... grrr)
