17 of 30 - New Apartment Photo Tour

Jun 19, 2006 00:01

On the off chance that you're interested, hidden behind the Lj-cut is a photo tour of the new apartment with links, descriptions and such. We just moved in this weekend, so the place is pretty much still a mess, but whatever.

This is actually from the middle of the living room facing the entryway. On the far right you can see the hallway to my room and the bathroom, on the far left is the...

Kitchen. I'm actually really disappointed in this. Despite being 30+ years newer than our last place, the kitchen appliances are older, and according to Chris' mom some aspect of the Oven is broken, although I couldn't tell you what aspect that is. Also, it's hard to see but the DVD case doesn't fit underneath the shelf overhand- wasting 2 inches of space. Chris is unwilling to saw off the half an inch needed to make it flush. You can also see that Chris' mom doesn't quite understand the George Foreman Grill otherwise she'd realize that the top of the microwave is a really bad place to put it.

Standing in the entryway, we see the door to the balcany (picts of that and the view when it's light outside), the door to Chris' room, and the gas fireplace (forgot to turn it on for the picture). While we were able to pull it off at our last place, it looks like we can't get away with not mounting the surround sound system here. So we bought the mounts and will mount them.. as soon as find a ladder and a studfinder. Otherwise, I'm really really looking forward to that HDTV since the current one is in a bad spot for glare.

We've now entered the previously mentioned doorway and find ourselves in Chris' room. Chris' room is much further along in the unpacking, due to his parents moving his furniture before mine. Psha! You'll notice he's watching Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country on VHS.

Ok, now we've escaped Chris' room and walked across the living room to my hallway. You'll notice that framed photos are spreading from my room as if by plague. From this angle it looks like a The Modern Legend of Satoshi Hallway (Warning, Link leads to movie). The pictures you see on the left are production stills from the movie taken by my ex roommate Brad, I don't have those particular photos on the web. The poster has been rolled up for the last year and a half (since I got it from cafepress) and just bought the frame today (while at Bed Bath and Beyond), it's also an inch all around too short. It's not centered in the frame because I need to flatten it before I have any hope of centering it. If we enter the hallway and move towards the left we goto...

The (my) bathroom! You can't see it, but I also bought a hi flow showerhead (at BB&B) for the shower, since the DWP installed one was.. less than satisfying (more on that later). The pictures you see framed are actually Craig Mullins paintings. They're all pirate paintings. Inok and I have been planning this for our own guest bathroom, but I jumped the gun and did it now :)

And from the reverse (standing in the shower), you can see several more paintings and my swim trunks. The complex has a couple pools that are supposed to be heated, but I learned the hard way they aren't.

Walking across the hall to my room now you see several more Craig Mullins paintings.. These are ones Inok doesn't like, and I'll probably have to get rid of them soon. Parden the mess in my room, as I'm still unpacking quite a bit.

My new computer wall! On my computer desk you can see the router that's doing my pirating (yarr!) and even my entry on the pirating is on my monitor. Also above my printer are pictures of Inok!

Opposite, towards the bed you can see more pictures of Inok, my window, and the new fan I bought today (also from BB&B)

My very, very cramped closet. And a new dresser from Ikea.
