Wow, what a lovely and exciting weekend it was. Our nephew Patrick and his fiancee AnneFaye got married on Saturday. Beautiful ceremony at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Norwich with a great reception to follow at the Mystic Marriott.
Except that morning I'd gotten a call from my father - both parents were in the hospital!
Seems my mother had woken up on Friday with the symptoms of a UTI (urinary tract infection) and also burning up with a fever of 100.7F - pretty high for a 78 year-old. She got up to get something to eat and collapsed on the kitchen floor. My father wants to call 911 and she says" No I don't have on any underwear and the EMTs will see! My parents call her doctor and he will meet them in the emergency room) My father calls my younger brother (not wanting to worry us -because we were going to a PARTY at one of our other nephews house) and they trek off the local hospital - finally settling my mom in a room hours later. My brother takes my dad to the cafeteria to get them both something to eat. My brother hears a crash behind him and turns to find my dad passed out on the floor. Hospital employees take him to the emergency room and he is admitted at 4:00 a.m.
Which leads us back to the 9:00 a.m. call to darling daughter which goes like this " Hi, we're both in the hospital but it's nothing to worry about, so have a good time at the wedding and don't worry about us."
And they really meant it - and like I could not worry. Bob and I made a fast dash to the hospital and visited of course before going back and changing for the wedding. We went to their house to pick up a few things for them between the wedding and reception. My father was fine, seems stress and dehydration had caused the fainting spell. He had been getting his house painted and had been worried about that and then my mother being sick was just too much.
They got released the next day, with my eldest brother's wife picking them up. I called them a couple of hours later and they were doing well but I'll stop by later to see how they are doing.
I think I'll write later about the wedding LOL
