The niftiest thing happened at work today. While I was out on the porch watering the plants, one of the jays I feed came over to see what I was up to. She landed quite close and tilted her head nearly upside-down to stare at the water. Many pet birds like being spritzed, I understand, and some will even go in the shower with their owners. On the heels of almost a decade spent living with cats and only cats, it seems that my brain is having trouble adjusting to the idea of my having more than one kind of pet.

Or at least, I assume that's why I told the Tortie that she's "a cute lizard" this morning.

We have a torbie at work today! She is one of our regular boarders. I do so very much like it when we have her in, because she is such a splendiculously grumpy creature. Back when the Demi-Smoke was still a tiny little bit of a thing, I used to scoop him up and growl at him, and mock-bite his tail.

And then I would gasp: "Oh no! The kitten was bitten! The kitten was bitten!!"

I can't recall that he was ever terribly impressed by this, I'm afraid.

When I was driving home from work today, I noticed that the empty lot next to the bowling alley was filled with crows. Being me, I got so excited that I had to turn the car around and pull into the bowling alley parking lot so I could take pictures and stare at them.
