Tonight I saw three concerts:
(1) Creative non-fiction essay readings. Review: People's lives are actually interesting, and can be told in a way that is funny or evocative of emotion. Mysterious Ways had a very funny one about loving a very special pirate, and Matthew's tale of how he wrote a paper for the class was clever and not overdone. And Eric Freel revealed how he went from virgin to not in under 3 minutes...
(2) Total Gigs Live. Review: It was Gigs. They sang gig-songs and did gig-skits, and Jessica Lindboom is incredible and there are lots of other people too. Kudos to Mme Arcati for coming back from beyond the grave and Eunace from Canada. The audience was mostly young; some people were even babies!
(3) (I sat in on) the Henry's VIII "dress rehearsal." Review: I spent 3 hours giving feedback and advice, and recalled all too well why I backed out of the group this semester, and probably for good. If you like Henry's VIII last year, you'll love them now that the only thing that's changed is the replacement of three old voices with three new ones. New songs too.
Because of (2) I had to go re-listen to Indigo Girls' Least Complicated, and because of (3) I was compelled to listen to Tom Petty's Last Dance With Mary-Jane.'
