Wheat... lots of wheat... fields of wheat... a tremendous amount of wheat...

I'm allergic to gluten. It's very clear to me now, after scarfing down several bowls of wheat cereal and spending the entire weekend sick from it. I love all things gluten, so this is quite a blow.

In an attempt to calm my hurting tummy I'm trying to make vegetables the focus of my meals. Because I'm always ridiculous, I extended that to breakfast this morning which was:
* 1/4 C of peas
* a handful of collard greens, boiled
* a big scoop of cauliflower (baked til tender)
* 2 big scoops of red cabbage (sauteed with balsamic vinegar)
* a small grapefruit
* 3 small slices of avocado
* 4 scrambled egg whites

A veritable smorgasbord of vegetable delights. It was delicious and satisfying and low calorie and not upsetting in any way. Except to Ali, who eyed first my huge plate and then me with some confusion. "That is not breakfast food," he said as he devoured a huge bowl of delicious-looking frosted mini-wheats. I ignored him and chowed down.

Now I'm at work, loving my job as I prepare for my afternoon session and burn CD masters of radio spots I mixed last week and chat with the people here. Maybe these are the good ole days.
