I've never seen such a beautiful squash blossom. Despite being attached to a whole zucchini, the thing is fully bloomed and the inside is easy to discern thanks to the full bloom.
Meanwhile I also have a great Kohlrabi plant. The leaves are almost completely uneaten by bugs, and the bulb is around the size of my fist.

but I feel like it's fall. It was much cooler yesterday, though. I suppose that's just me waiting for the harvest. Time to weed some more. (I've been procrastinating all day.)
Regardless, I really need to start playing the violin again. It's been almost a week now, and I'm sucking quite badly.

when you want to end work quickly and do something time-consuming that can only be done in the sunlight. Like...gardening? The rains have been heavy, flooding peoples' basements and any depression in the ground, sewage being sent spurting up from peoples' sump pumps. At times during gardening I can feel like a terrible person. How can I rip out a weed without disturbing the sleeping place of a June beetle. How can I not feel pity as scores upon scores of potato bugs scurry away in fear from the ground I tear up. Thursday was fun. I rotatilled my garden, planted a couple of things there. Though I have to say, i don't have good luck with making plants germinate, so I'll be going to the Farmer's Market to get a couple of other plants. The snow is beggining to melt.
Well, it was already melting, but now it's melting more.
And revealed from the snow is one of the cabbages I grew last summer. It's still green!
