Lightning and fireworks

For me, the 4th of July means fireworks. That's all. It wasn't until some cheesy ass people started singing "God Bless America" that I remembered what the fireworks were actually for. Anyway, in the past I didn't have to think about where to go to see fireworks. In LA, CBS studios was on my block and they put on a show every year, so we'd just go up to the roof of the apartment building and we were set. But here, we didn't know what to do.

So we found a park nearby that would be having a show. Our friends were going to meet us nearby and we'd walk over. Only catch was that it was POURING RAIN. We figured there was no way they could have fireworks in that mess, and everyone was going home. After some debate, we decided to drive west and see if a) it was clearer that way, and b) we could find other fireworks. But on the way, the fireworks show started right next to us. We got out of the car and stood in the pouring rain, with lightning and everything, and watched what was by far the best, longest fireworks display I've ever seen. Soaking wet. It was damn cool.

Go Denver.
