Well, it's Sunday. My sis Ellen didn't have youth group tonight so her and I are here at home hangin while Mom and Dad go to Sun. night church. I had a great day today. Got to go to church and study the book of Esther in Sunday School (one of my favorite Bible stories). Worship was awesome. Wish I had sung in the Choir this morning, however, because they sang one of my favorite Calls to Worship. Ah, well, life's not always fair, is it? Got a nap this afternoon. It was sunny out, but this Sunday was just one of those where you feel like laying down and sleeping for a bit, just because. So that was nice.
Oscars tonight! I'm hoping ROTK wins Best Picture this year. Chicago did win fair and square last year, but I wish that at least one movie from the LOTR trilogy would win one best picture. And if I had to pick one, ROTK would be it. If ROTK doesn't win? Then Master & Commander. I could go on and on as to who I think should win in just about every category, but really, I don't think anyone wants to sit through ALL of that. I'm getting giddy already. This is the one awards show I wait all year to watch. I'm pathetic, I know...
God's been speaking to me since around Christmastime about success in life, and also about how salvation should bring about an identity change, not just a personality or behavior change. I've been trying to figure out what exactly God was telling me. My dad finally hit the nail in the head in our sermon today. Here's the notes I benefited from most, and hopefully they could be of help to someone else:
Passage: John 3:1-15
~During spiritual journey with Christ, I will admit to God what I do not know.
*Doubt will NEVER dominate me.
*Questions will NEVER scare me.
*Faith will ALWAYS carry me.
*Do not be afraid to say to God, "Show me what to do" when you have a question. God doesn't expect us to know everything! How can you learn if you do not ask?
~I will make trust my daily measure of success.
*Did I follow Christ?
*Did I glorify God?
~God will never complete the work of transformation. It's a continuing journey. Fulfillment and completion comes only after death, once one receives their reward in Heaven.
Just to clarify, yes my father is a pastor :).
I'm off to eat me some grub. I plan to be back on after the Oscars to comment, so be prepared... I'll either be very happy or ill because one movie or another got gypped in some way. Hope everyone has a great night. Toodles!
