ZOMG, HI-SPEED INTERNETZ. ::flails:: I'll be honest--half the time, my connection was so pitiful, I couldn't see my own header. It was always a pleasant surprise when it actually showed up at the top of my LJ. ;-) But now, there it is, every time I refresh. My flist loads so fast, and I tried dling something (::cough::Transformers score, and if anyone wants it let me know::cough::), and WOAH was that fast, too. We also get a few more cable channels, which is great because I've been sighing unhappily as I scrolled by the Boomerang channel every night as Justice League Unlimited aired, and I couldn't watch it. Also got to flirt a bit with the cable guy, who remembered coming here a few years ago to do something or other to fix our cable. Men are such...men. ::laughs::

DOUBLE ZOMG, WITH A SIDE OF NO WAYZ (and yes, I actually said, "NO WAY," out loud, after my jaw had dropped). They've cast Scotty (and Sulu, too) in Star Trek. Not sure what I think about the guy they asked to play Kirk, though, but he hasn't accepted yet, so we'll see. But color me shocked at the choice for Scotty. I never would have pegged him for that role. ::facepalm:: Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

And huh, George Clooney is going to star in White Jazz (fourth in James Ellroy's L.A. Quartet, following L.A. Confidential). But no Exley? Boo.

It was my mum's birthday on Wednesday. I made her a card with T-Bag from Prison Break on the front, which she got a kick out of. My grandmother brought over dinner after she got off work, and I got to hear some old Hollywood stories as we watched Broadway Melody of 1940 (Eleanor Powell is one of my mom's favorites, and we all love Fred Astaire, who my mom says (and I agree) MUST be played by Hugh Laurie if they ever make a movie about him) and also the story of how my grandmother and my grandfather met. So adorable.

Catching up on fic: I told myself I wouldn't get into Chuck fandom (and does it even exist?), and I haven't, but
hackthis  has written Chuck/Captain Awesome: Shock & Awe [PG], and it's gah, just so Chuck, it's, well, awesome.

Stephen Colbert on Larry King Live yesterday was so great. It was interesting seeing him sliding in and out of character. But the best parts were the throw and final toss to Anderson Cooper for 360. At first, Anderson is Mr Formal, "Thank you, Mr. Colbert," but Stephen gives a perky, "What's up, Anderson!" And Stephen succeeds at making Anderson just crack up. He had to put his serious frowny face back on.

New look for a new Captain America? Hmm.

And now, I must catch up on fic in my to-be-read pile, and still more shows I must say a few things about like the past week's Dexter and CSI. Still haven't seen any new SPN this season, so I'll need to play catch-up with that, as well.

recs, star trek, the colbert report, chuck
