1. Getting the dickery out of the way, German Chancellor Angela Merkel says that multiculturalism has failed
and immigrants just need to deal with it. I guess it's good to know that conservative assholes aren't indigenous to the US.
2. In much happier and super geeky news, Mark Sheppard (Badger on Firefly, Crowley on Supernatural, Jim Sterling on Leverage, Benedict Valda on Warehouse 13, Romo Lampkin on BSG. Y'know, that guy from that show.)
is going to be on Doctor Who. Because he is awesome.
3. I know I'm a little late to the game, but Auxiliary magazine's interview with Doc Hammer from October '09 is definitely worth reading. What gets me is what he says about being fashionable as a part of being an artist, which is something I've been trying to articulate in my head for a long time. That's what fashion is for me. It's art. It's using the human body as a canvas. Not necessarily like body painting or tattoos or things like that, but as a space with which you can create something beautiful on a daily basis. I could go on like this for pages, but I'll spare you the manifesto. In conclusion: Fashion is anything but frivolous. It is, in fact, the most accessible of all the visual arts.
3a. Also, you've got to love a guy who says, "Which is why I wear my shirt unbuttoned all the way down to 1974 to show a little man cleavage".
