For some reason, I decided that I needed to bake a red velvet cake today. Then I discover that I only have one round cake pan left, and rather than making cupcakes or a sheet cake, I decide to simply bake the batter in two stages. It's turning into a long night. Yesterday we went to Asheville and met up with friends we haven't seen for a while - the music librarian I worked with a few years ago, his wife, and child. We had lunch at the Laughing Seed, a vegetarian restaurant I kept hearing about but hadn't tried yet.
