Chapter Fifty-Five:

“Did you get the cake Isaac?” Daph asked her husband. She was putting up streamers and balloons for the twin’s 1st birthday party. Isaac looked up from where he had set them in their playpen and handed them a few toys.

“Yes babe I did. I picked up the cake, the gifts, and I even picked up some ice cream,” he told her. Daphne finished with the decorations and went over to kiss Isaac softly. A knock at the door kept them from having a deeper kiss. “You get that babe while I go check on the food.”

Daphne went to the door and opened it to see both of their parents. “Hey mom, dad, Walker and Diana,” she said letting them inside. She saw her mom holding her baby sister Julianne. “Hey there Julie,” she said taking her from their mother.

“Honey the food is almost done… Hey mom, dad,” Isaac said as he hugged his parents. Another knock on the door came and Isaac opened to reveal Taylor and his family. He let them in then saw Zac and his family pull up. Jason and Samantha arrive right be hind them. “Well I think everyone is here, Nikki and David are in the other room cleaning up Everett after he decided to eat his candy with his clothes.”

Everyone sat down to eat dinner with the birthday twins at the head of the table. Isaac sat and fed himself between feeding Brooklyn. She took the spoon away from him so she could eat with her hands. “Brooklyn, why you got to be the messy one huh?” Isaac asked her. She giggled and continued to eat with her hands.

“Da… Da…” came from Hayden’s mouth full of food. All eyes turned on the tot as he had just said his first word. He swallowed what was in his mouth and went to town with his word. “Dada… dada… dada.” A big grin appeared across Isaac’s face.

“Someone’s excited at his son’s first word,” Daphne said smiling. Once everyone was done eating they headed towards the living room for presents. Isaac helped his twins open their gifts. Instead of wanting to play with their new toys, Hayden and Brooklyn decided they had more fun playing with the paper, tissue, and bags instead.

“Should have just got them the bags and tissue paper,” Isaac commented. He couldn’t help but chuckle as Hayden crawled into one of the bigger bags. Everett made his way over and poked his head in the bag to play with his little brother. Hayden let out a squeal at Everett before Everett joined him in the bag. It brought another smile to Isaac’s face seeing all three of his children playing together. But hey that was the life and he was loving it

A Few Days Later

“Ready little brother? Today’s the big day,” Taylor said to Jason fixing his tie. Finally the day came of Samantha and Jason’s very small wedding. The wedding and reception were to be held in the Spencer’s back yard.

“As ready as I’ll ever be. Thanks for agreeing to be my best man even though it means walking down the aisle with Rox,” Jason said to Taylor. “And I don’t want to sound sappy but I wouldn’t be marrying her if I never found out about you. I feel so blessed to have you for an older brother and I am very proud to be your little brother. I… I love you Tay.”

Taylor just gave Jason a hug as he tried to hide impending tears. “I love you too Jase. I’m proud to be your brother and glad that you came into my life,” he said to him. Jason smiled at him and looked over as Zac poked his head into the room.

“Sorry for interrupting your brotherly bonding love fest but the wedding is waiting on you two.” All three of them headed down to the backyard and got into their places. Within minutes music started up and Roxanna walked to the make shift altar recycled from Zariah and Taylor’s wedding. Next little River walked down carrying the rings as the ring bearer.

Evie made her way down as she threw rose petals down on the ground. Finally Samantha made her way down. Jason couldn’t help but smile at her when she got down to him. They turned towards the altar and the ceremony started.

They decided to go with traditional vows instead of writing their own. Once they finished repeating their vows it was time for the ‘I Dos’. “Do you take one another to be lawfully wed thru sickness and health, good times and bad, for richer or poorer for as long as you both shall live and until death do you part?”

“I Do,” Jason and Samantha said at the same time. The rings were blessed then handed to them. Jason carefully slid the ring on her finger first. She then took the ring and slid it onto his finger. She then looked up and smiled at him knowing what came next.

“With the power vested in me by the state of Oklahoma, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.” There was no hesitation on Jason’s part as he pulled her close and kissed her but then dipped her as they continued to kiss. Cheers erupted for the happy couple. “I now introduce to you Mr. and Mrs. Jason Spencer.”

They walked down the aisle and to the reception area that had started up. Everyone mingled together waiting for the dinner to be ready. Isaac went to Taylor and saw some tears in his eyes. “You okay? Never known you to tear up at a wedding.”
“Oh shush Isaac… It’s just with all the bad things over and good happening. I mean like having my little Leilah, my sister Julie, your twins turning one, and now that my little brother is married… It’s just really overwhelming,” he explained. Isaac nodded and understood. Taylor looked over and saw Zariah holding Leilah while Penny, Ezra, and River played close to their stepmother. He felt on cloud 9 and felt his heart fill with so much happiness and love. Everything was finally the way it was supposed to.  .
