Chapter Fifty-Four: June 11th, 2009
“All right so just change it from that chord to an A chord to give it a bit more oomph,” Isaac told Taylor as they sat in the studio working on the new album. Taylor erased a few notes on a paper then re written the changed ones Isaac suggested. Zac had been lying upside down on the couch bored listening to them bicker about that particular song for at least an hour.
“Ok please you two take a break! Enough is enough for time being, we need to refuel. I say we grab some grub, eat, and then go for it again. What do you guys say?” He asked as they looked at him. Taylor just had this appalled look on his face at the mere suggestion of pausing the process of the song they were on.
“Your just always hungry Zac. Call and order pizza or Chinese and have them deliver. We need to keep working on this song until we have it the way we want it,” Taylor commented at him. A groan escaped Zac’s lips as he sat upright and glared at Taylor not very happily.
“What the hell crawled up your ass Taylor? I get you’re tired and exhausted from having 3 kids and a new born but your not the only one with a newborn. I have Elijah that keeps me and Roxanna up all night, but you don’t see me taking shit out on you two,” he spat back at him.
“I know… I know I’m sorry man your right. We can go and get food if that’s what you want,” Taylor said as he stood up. Isaac stood to stretch first as there was a knock on the door that got their attention. Taylor went over to answer the door to see his mother, father, wife, and newborn baby girl. “Hey what are you guys doing here?”
“We figured you guys were probably working so hard that you haven’t taken the time to eat so we decided to bring you a real meal instead of ordering fast food,” Zariah told her husband before kissing his lips. Victoria and Steven were carrying the food and drinks while Zariah carried Leilah.
“Taylor your wife is the best! She read my mind and my food deprived tummy. I’m absolutely starving because these two nincompoops are too busy arguing over a song and ignoring me completely,” Zac whined as he went to help with the food. He took out three plates made up of lots of food. He didn’t even hand Tay or Ike a plate he just sat back on his couch to eat his food.
“Gee Zac… Thank you Victoria, Steven… that was very thoughtful of you,” Isaac said after he grabbed his plate and started to eat. Zariah sat down as she held Leilah who was busy trying to suck on her mitten-covered hand. Victoria had to sit cause her 9month stomach was becoming too much for her.
The guys were near the end of their food when Victoria held onto her stomach and her eyes went wide. “Mom, are you alright? Something wrong with the baby?” Taylor asked her. She shook her head and when she went to stand her water broke. “Oh god, the baby’s coming… my sister’s coming!” Steven went to her and started leading her to the car.
“You and Zariah can follow in your car with Leilah,” Steven told his son. While Steven went ahead to get Victoria to the hospital, Zariah put Leilah into Tay’s car. Taylor got into his car and drove his family to the hospital. Zac and Isaac decided to follow Taylor to be there for him.
At The Hospital
“My wife is in labor,” Steven said as he got Victoria into the hospital waiting room. Staff of the hospital immediately got to them and took them to the maternity ward. A doctor came in to check on her and to see how much she was dilated. The doctor quickly got a team of nurses in the delivery room.
“You’re already 10 centimeters so lets have this baby,” the doctor said. Steven took his wife’s hand as she was prepped to have the baby. When the time was right the doctor spoke up, “Alright Mrs. Spencer, start pushing.” And with that Victoria began to push. Being as she was in her mid forties it wasn’t as easy as it was when she had her other kids. She pushed and pushed as hard as she could.
“Come on baby, I know you can do this,” Steven encouraged. After about half an hour and getting nowhere the doctor decided it was time to take her in for a caesarian section. She was wheeled in and the doors had closed.
In The Waiting Room
“You want me to call Jason?” Zariah asked her husband. He turned and nodded at her as he sat there waiting for news on his mother and baby sister. Isaac had called his wife and she had met him there at the hospital. Zariah grabbed her cell then walked off and called Jason to tell him about his mother. “Hey Jase? It’s Zariah… your mom is in the hospital having the baby so get here soon.”
Across the room Daphne was curled up to her husband watching as Roxanna who had come with her was with her husband. Zac looked around the room wondering why he was even there. Victoria wasn’t his mother, or mother in law so he didn’t quite understand why he was waiting for a baby he had no relation to.
Leilah was in her father’s arms looking up at him distracting him from thinking of bad things that could happen to his mother and sister. “Hey pretty little girl, how’s my princess?” he cooed down at his 3 month old daughter. She just kicked her feet happily and cooed right back up at him. Steven walked into the room right at that moment. Taylor stood up and walked over to him, “How’s mom? And the baby?”
“Your mom had trouble pushing her out naturally so she had to do a c section but she and your sister are just fine,” Steven announced just as Jason arrived. It was then that it was agreed that Taylor, Jason, and Daphne would go in first. Taylor handed Leilah over to Zariah then followed his father and siblings into his mother’s hospital room where she was cradling a pink bundle. “Look Vic, all four of our beautiful children.”
Victoria smiled as she pulled down the blanket from the baby’s face so they could see her. “I never thought we’d get Taylor back and have another child, and now we have four great kids. Two boys and two girls, we definitely are very lucky.” Taylor realized that for the first time he really felt like a real family with his birth family. He stood there with his twin sister and younger brother admiring their new baby sister. “Meet your sister, Julianne Amera Spencer.”
“That’s a beautiful name mom, it fits her,” Daphne said as she looked down at Julianne. Isaac, Samantha, and Zariah walked in the room to see the new baby. Isaac wrapped his arms around Daphne and looked down at her baby sister. “She’s beautiful isn’t she Ike?” Isaac nodded and smiled at her.
Zariah held Leilah as she went to Taylor’s side. “Who ever thought you’d have a sister younger than your children,” she said with a smile. Taylor slipped his arm around her and kissed her head as he stood there. Victoria handed Julianne to Daphne to hold for a bit. Daphne held her new sister for a few minutes before handing her to Jason to hold as well.
Jason held Julianne and just smiled down at her. He looked over and gave her to Taylor since it was his turn. Taylor gently cradled his baby sister into his arms and looked down at her. She looked up with blue eyes identical to his own and just curled into him more. He couldn’t help but get emotional over her as everyone else came into the room such as Zac, Roxanna, and his adoptive parents Walker and Diana. It was then he knew, from looking at his birth parents and siblings, to his adoptive parents and those siblings; he definitely had the best of both worlds.
