Chapter Fifty Six: August
“Here we are, back in Africa for another round of shoe drops and checking out all that the walks helped do,” Zac said as they drove to the first stop on their first day back in Africa. He looked out the window with his camera and then turned to all guys in the van. “There’s Taylor, Isaac the Retard, Jason or Mini-Tay, and our good friend David.”
All four guys waved to the camera before Zac decided to turn it off for a little while. “So David, this is your first time in Africa, how does it feel?” Taylor asked. The van stopped at the school that had been built as a result of everyone who had taken walks with the guys.
“First off I never once imagined I’d be here period, but knowing why I’m here and the impact it will have makes it all worth it. That and I want my child to have something to be proud of me,” he said then realized he let his and Nikki’s secret out. Isaac looked over at him with wide brown eyes.
“Nikki… Nikki’s pregnant?” Isaac asked his ex-wife’s new husband. David nodded while giving Isaac a face that read ‘guilty’. “Oh wow, I… wasn’t expecting you two to have a baby so soon. But as long as she’s happy that’s all that matters. Congratulations you’re joining the daddy club.”
“Thanks Isaac it means a lot, I can’t wait to have my child with my beautiful wife,” David said as they walked into one of the classrooms. They were greeted with a banner from one end of the wall to the other that said ‘Thank You Hanson’ held up by all the children in the entire school.
All five guys walked over to where the children were. “The children would like to thank you guys for everything you’ve done to raise and donate money to have their school. They are grateful for your guys’ generosity and kindness,” one of the teachers said to them.
“Well it wasn’t just us but also all of the people who walked with us and organized their own walks. All our fans did a lot to help make this possible,” Taylor explained. Zac turned his camera on and got the children saying thank you to the fans on the camera.
Next the children got to their school. The guys watched for a while and helped out before having to head to the next stop, the clean water well. They were going to be so busy in such a short time. There was so much to do in so little time
At The Hotel
“I miss my baby girl,” Zariah said as she watched Ezra and Penny take their nap with Everett and Evie. Not all the kids went to Africa. Hayden, Brooklyn, River, Leilah, and Elijah all stayed in Tulsa with their respective grandparents. “I haven’t been away from her this long before.”
“I miss Elijah too, but I know our precious little babies are in good hands and we’ll be home soon,” Roxanna told her. Nikki and Daphne came from the connecting room as Samantha had emerged from the bathroom after taking her shower and getting dressed.
No sooner had she come out Nikki had bolted inside to empty out her stomach. When Nikki came out she had four pairs of eyes on her. She knew the questions that were on all the girls’ minds so she decided to beat them to the punch. “Got to hate morning sickness”
“No way!!! You and David are having a baby?” Daphne asked her. Nikki smiled big and nodded at them. “Oh my god! Congratulations I’m so happy for you and David.” Soon Nikki was getting hugs from all of the girls.
“How far along are you?” Samantha had asked her. Nikki revealed that she was five months along. “Oh wow have you found out what you’re having or are you guys gonna wait until the baby is born?”
“We’re gonna wait until the baby is born to find out. I’m just so excited about this baby,” she said. Daphne, Nikki and Sam took Everett into the other room while Rox and Zariah stayed to chat and take naps.
“My life is so great right now Zariah. I have two very beautiful children, super sexy and sweet husband, and my family. Sometimes I worry that some thing is going to try and ruin it all. Am I just paranoid?” Rox asked her.
“Like what Rox? Marion adores you with Zac and Kate is locked away in Jail. She is on her way to prison for a few years and Anthony is already in prison. SO there is nothing to come between you guys and your family. Zac loves you with all his heart and your children,” Zariah assured Roxanna. Rox nodded in agreement and shrugged it off as pure paranoia. Her family was absolutely solid.
At The Tulsa Jail
“Come on Tucker, speed it up your ride to the big house is here,” an officer said as she opened the bar door to Kate’s cell. Kate gathered up all of the personal items she had, a few pictures and other items. She looked around the cell and sighed knowing that things were only going to get worse from there.
The officer escorted Kate out of the cell. She was heavily guarded as she was taken to a bus that was transferring her and a few other inmates to the prison. She sat alone and away from every one else. Even though she knew what she did was wrong she didn’t feel she belonged anywhere near the others.
Once the bus was in motion an intimidating Italian woman got up from her seat and went to sit next to Kate. “What for are you cowering away from us Miss Priss? You’re no better than any of us. Sure I may have conned money from unsuspecting clueless men, but I didn’t cause anyone to die. You were jealous of your hubby and that girl. I just hope it was all worth it cause now he’s married to her. She’s the new Mrs. Hanson and the mother of his child. Some plan ya had Miss Priss, cause it backfired… in two ways.”
Kate hated to be reminded of the fact that Zac married Roxanna, adopted that little brat, and had a child with her. She held on tightly to a particular picture as she looked out the window. The Italian woman had gotten up to return to her seat when the driver began to frantically honk the horn of the bus.
Next thing that Kate knew, an out of control diesel plowed thru the bus. Her body flew out of the bus and onto the road as the bus was split in half. She stared at the flaming remains of the bus. She knew there was no way anyone could have survived that. Carefully she got up and found the photo she clutched to at night. She knew she could easily make a clean break cause everyone would think she died in it.
And that’s what she was going to do. She slid the picture into her pocket and fled the scene as she heard sirens in the distance. Her plot was stirring in her head the farther she got. She knew who to get to make Zac leave Roxanna and his family for her..
