Sullivan Family Reunion

Oh the madness...
This past weekend was the first Sullivan Family Reunion I'd been to since 1987. And seeing as I wasn't even 4 for that one, I clearly don't remember much of what went on and even less of how I'm related to everyone. Fast forward to 2006. 75-80 Sullivans descend on Southern California from parts of CA, Oregon, Michigan, Wisconsin, and mostly Nebraska. It was the first CA trip for many of them.
We had mass at the mission Saturday, a barbecue at one of the 2 houses my mom lived in as a child (where one of her cousins now lives), and a beach trip with Mikey, Alex, Jeanine and Dad. It was really weird thinking how I'm going to be moving away from the beach. I mean, I'll be closer to the Atlantic, but it's still weird.
Sunday was the official Reunion Mass at my uncle's parish (we were staying in the rectory) and the giant gathering after mass. George had old family movies showing and Danika made the food and I still don't know how I'm related to some of the people there, but it was fun. As was the 10 minute photo shoot (same picture taken on a million different cameras) with one little toddler getting a little antsy and just wandering around (just learning to walk) so some of the pictures probably just have her back. She didn't seem to understand why we were all staying in one place-clearly we should be moving around, too. Uncle Tom yelled "she's the smartest one of the bunch!" It was good times.
And then we had our typical drive back and got in at 11. Not too bad. Oh! I didn't mention-we got to travel in our new van...well, our new-to-us van. Legs have been squished by the captain's chairs-the car has officially been inaugurated. And it's definitely comfortable. So yay! And now I'm on countdown. Today's the first and mom and I leave either the 13th or 14th-under two weeks! I'm getting the feeling that I'm underprepared or overprepared or anything but what I'm supposed to be. It's just like leaving for college, right? I mean, I'll be back at Christmastime, right? OK. Let's stop freaking out.
