I still have so much love for the Ari/Ros stuff. I just loved Gojyo's caring and his getting involved and his frustration and all of it. Clearly I need to start watching the Ikkaku/Yumachika situation more, heh.

Okay, that whole issue about them having the same talk about guys on many many occasions?

The simple and unfortunate truth is that George Lass is completely and totally convinced that she's not pretty, she's not interesting, and she's just completely below everyone else. And every time she starts to think "hey, maybe I'm okay after all," something like the situation with Ikkaku comes up. In which, she's shown yet again that she's not pretty, she's not interesting, and she's just completely below everyone else.

So when someone tells her that she's pretty and she's worth something, she's torn between thinking that they're bullshitting her and hoping that they're not. But it also convinces her that sooner or later, they're going to hurt and abandon her, too, because that's what people do to her. And she tries to be resigned and self-mocking about the entire thing, but she usually fails.

Yes, the girl has issues. ^_^;;

And yeah, it's totally valid because Gojyo himself is like that most of the time sometimes, which is again why he was pissed at himself, mainly. Because he knows that's just the way people are and he can't do anything but suck it up and keep caring.

::cries:: Honestly, sometimes I feel like taking the girl by the shoulders and shaking her while yelling "yes, you ARE a beautiful and unique snowflake, damnit!!" ~_^

It strikes me that is is probably a large part of why they hit it off so well. Like a subconcious understanding that, "hey, this person's screwed up in a lot of the same ways that I am!" Only Gojyo has more practice at sucking it up and caring because before dying, George had prided herself on not caring about anything or anyone, including herself. And, really, any time Gojyo wants to discuss any of his problems with George, he should feel free. She'd certainly try to help, or at least provide sympathy and support in her own special way.
