I still have so much love for the Ari/Ros stuff. I just loved Gojyo's caring and his getting involved and his frustration and all of it. Clearly I need to start watching the Ikkaku/Yumachika situation more, heh.

I was thinking-- I think another source of tension between Gojyo and Sanzo is that Gojyo still thinks he can fix things.

Well, really, what's why Gojyo goes after Kami-sama, isn't it? To stop him. The revenge factor's there too, but really a good part of it is "that guy's still out there." Sanzo's perspective is more that you can't stop shit from happening, so why bother with this one asshole? And so Sanzo gets annoyed by Gojyo's softness/persistence and Gojyo is pissed by Sanzo's fatalism/indifference.
