friends are my family, and I have a great family
At a time of year when family is seen as important, I recognise yet again what great people have become my family of friends. I'm an orphan in effect (even if not quite in fact), my only sister doesn't talk to me and I've only met my extended family (aunts/uncles/cousins) on rare occasions. That's what happens when your parents move far away and don't stay in touch.
The friends I've made are my surrogate family, and they're better than my real one and I thank them all.

In the past 4-5 years I've met many wonderful people through LJ / costuming and my life would be lonelier & the poorer without them.
