I fully intended to get a lot accomplished today. However, I was awake through the night with an upset stomach which turned into, erm, gastrointestinal distress when I got up at 8am, and my back was killing me (probably from the tossing and turning). So, I instead spent my morning on the sofa with a heating pad and a book. Around noon my stomach was behaving itself so I went for a walk to the library, where I returned a book and got another, because the back pain had eased enough that I thought walking would do me some good. I was right, though it was still a bit achey when I got home and sat back down. So, there was nothing to it to go right back to the book! Book #50 is now done and dusted!
50. The Good Lie by A.R. Torre
When the seventh teenage victim of a serial killer escapes and names a local teacher as the culprit, the case appears seamless. But a high-powered attorney - and father to the sixth victim - believes the teacher is innocent and takes his case, hiring a psychiatrist who deals with violent offenders to work up a profile of the killer. There’s a couple of wild conclusions early on that we’re supposed to take as sensible, and the lawyer gives off vibes that I don’t think the author intended (I mean, he really is a bit of a dick) but the story definitely kept me riveted and I didn’t see the ending coming.
