Booyah!

Wow, it worked out really great that I have weekends off. And seriously, bless CBC and their 18 hour a day coverage. It's amazing! Stayed up all last night (Friday) and I had the great pleasure of not only seeing Michael Phelps match Spitz's record, but also saw Canada get our first three medals. Gold in womens wrestling, silver in mens two man rowing, and bronze in womens wrestling. How exciting! When gold medal winner Carol Huyn (sp?) starting crying during the Canadian anthem, I got all teary eyed as well. It was just so exciting to see a Canadian finally excel enough to actually get a medal.

I was really looking forward to the end of the swimming program tonight because Canada was in really good place for a medal. And Ryan Cochrane came through in the 1500m with a bronze medal performance!! GO RYAN! During the last couple of legs I was shouting at my TV and jumping around so much that I scared my cat! So very proud of Ryan!

And of course, Michael Phelps challenged for his 8th gold as part of the US mens relay team -- and they did it!! WOOOOO!! More squealing and jumping over here. A very very exciting race -- and wow. Just wow. How amazing for Spitz's record to be broken... for history to be made on this night.

One random thing I noticed during the medal presentation was that Phelps has really prominent laugh lines for someone so young. The things I notice! *shrugs* I just think that's a good thing. He's a happy boy. :)

I'm looking forward to the rowing tonight. And I'm enjoying so many events that I normally would never watch. Table tennis? Sure! Marathon? Run run run! :)
