Work has been crazy, but productive. (Unlike last week which was insanity and still involved achieving nothing except for a lot of planograms)
Clearance scan of pretty much all the fabric happened monday and tuesday with virtually no warning.
But I'm writing this because I dozed off on the couch and woke up to see "Oh Yeah" and am overwhelmed suddenly by my love for Arashi. I'm watching the Time Con while I ramble so please forgive any confusion.
Yesterday there was new VS Arashi and Shukudai-kun ready for me to watch. VS was awesome. Watching Jun be all :D because he roxxored an event (*pets the virgo*) was fun enough to make up for my desire to cry when Nino lost it for them. Someday there will be a week where they don't all know who will lose. Nino's shriek of fear as he fell through the floor was great too. Poor boy, I'm sure he'll come back to get them all in the end.
Then or course there was AnS. Which involved Jun being a gracious food-server as usual. And in which I realized that Sho is really not as close to the top of my list as I thought. Mostly for a lot of the usual Aquarius-related reasons. He's very beautiful and very intelligent but... well, I know who is on top of my list and in what order now... which is almost scary. (Right now: O, N, M, S, A- with one and two interchangable depending on who I'm looking at at the time.) I'm sure it will change again soon. Like if Jun takes off his shirt more. >.>
Anyway... I've had the time Concert on my iPod for about a week, but I just finally broke down and download the full size rips... because...
At some point this week,
kirakirastar mentioned JE cosplay and got my brain moving in that direction. See... I don't know from News or KanJani, but Arashi? Hmmm....
In particular, the yellow and black set from the time con caught my eye. I've been in love with it since I saw the Yokohama Arena fancam. I even have icons of Jun in a skirt. No really. I do. I just don't use it.
Guh, Nino. Glasses. Piano. Nyah~
Sorry... uh... where was I?
Right, costumes. So, this set caught my imagination as both semi-practical (hahahahahah) and possibly doable. So what did I do? I went sample shopping. It made me wish that I was in fashion design or something. Srsly. Making design boards would be so much fun. But anyway. 「…戻るとしても、同じ道選ぶだろう」
Right. So. I made this awesome board of all my swatches. And then I DLed the better quality version to get a better look at all the damn lace and trim.
Notes I have so far:
The shirts underneath are fairly plain, short sleeve, normal collars, with silver snaps up the front. they do have a sequined inset panel on the right (OhMiya) or left (MatsuSakurAiba) side. But I have a couple of ideas about how to do it, and they shouldn't be uncomfortable. Also, awesome for clubbing or stuff outside of the costumes.
Pants would pretty much have to be cutsomized (I'd thought at first that they might be buyable) because: 1) Sho's have one leg entire overlayed in lace, 2) The 'plain' ones - Ohno and Aiba - both have stripes up the outside of the leg that would be really hard to add if they were already put together 3) Nino's have lace applique on the left leg (also hard to add post-construction) and 4) three of them are YELLOW. I mean really fucking yellow. Which is fine, but makes purchasing matching pairs to modify very hard.
Hot /damn/, Jun... now I know why pink camo was invented. For Arashi. End.
Anyway. The pants are ok if I can get the yardage in the twill that I want., the shirts are similarly fairly simple, just heavily constructed.
All the jackets are basically the same base. (See Sho's in "Can't Let Go" and Ohno's in "Song for Me" for better samples of the neck/collar style) Sho's and Aiba's, the same collar and sleeves (or lack) but are longer and pieced. The basic construction is doable and if I go with my primary choice of material they would all be in stretch sateen, so soft, flexible and comfortable.
Except for... holy hell the detail. Lace overlays. 5-10 kinds of trim depending on who you are. Boas, sequins, pieced collars, custom embroidered appliques... like woah. Aiba's is half black and half yellow. Sho's is trench-length. Jun's has only one sleeve, I think. They're all different and yet they work together and I think it's awesome.
And I think I could do it. That's the cool part.
I don't have a materials estimate right now. I'd think about 4.5 yards of twill per person (Yellow and black in different amounts) which is about $20. Assume 1 yd disco dot for collard and shirt is $4-ish. $8-ish for Jun's skirt. $5-10 for people who need boas. Ohno needs a scarf. Then there's trims. Avg of $1-2 per yard... assume that's another $10-15 per person. More for sho with all the damn overlay and the length of his coat.
So... maybe $40 for the minimum materials. Ideally, I'd like to get everyone to agree to $50-60, because trim gets expensive pretty fast and if I can find appliques, then they'll be expensive. If I can't then we'll need puff paints or something. >.>
*sighs*
Damnit. OhMiya just kissed and now I'm distracted by Jun's insanely sparkly pants.
Must be time for bed for real.
I think my rant was about done anyway.
Oyasumi.
I wish we sold that kind of sparkle-dot stuff. :3
....right. Anyway.
