Mmm … Frosting

"Ugh!" Draco grunted, placing yet another lump of fruitcake onto the counter, the latest offering from Molly. They'd already received two lots of it earlier in the week from some of Draco's clients. Draco hated fruitcake. "This is positively vile." Harry laughed. "Who ever decided this was to be traditional Chirstmas fare?"

"I dunno," Harry said. "But you have to admit the topping is good."

Draco shot his 'You can't be serious' look at Harry. "While the flavour, I will admit, is marginally acceptable, I should like to point out that it remains a hardened paste. Paste, Potter! Furthermore, the older - and supposedly better - the fruitcake gets, the harder and staler the topping gets." He grimaced as though he'd just been forced to consume some. "Frosting is far superior."

Harry pondered the merits of frosting and grinned. "I believe you're right." He waggled his eyebrows and pulled Draco in for a long snog.

Draco blinked as he regained his composure. "Not that I'm complaining, but what was that for?" he asked.

"Oh, you'll see," Harry said. "But for now, let's grab our things. We're meeting everyone in half an hour for an evening skate, and we can't Apparate there."

Draco groaned. "I can't believe I let you talk me into strapping metal to my feet and sliding along a sheet of ice with a bunch of Muggles."

"Don't blame me!" Harry said, raising his hands in defence. "It was Luna's idea, and Pansy's taunting that convinced you."

"Ah yes, now I remember. She is a pushy witch, isn't she?"

Harry chuckled. "No more than Hermione."

"Too true," Draco agreed.

"Well, let's go then. We shouldn't give them any reason to harass us." Harry winked. "Any more than usual anyway."

They had a wonderful evening with their friends, and Harry even managed to surreptitiously cast both Cushioning and Warming Charms on all of them, much to everyone's delight. Draco even dared to try some roasted chestnuts from the street vendor. Street food! Hell may well have frozen over.

"I'll meet you at home," Harry said as they were about to leave. "I just have a quick stop to make."

Draco pouted. Harry kissed him. "I won't be long. Promise."

"Fine."

When Harry returned to their flat a short while later, it was with frosting in hand and a predatory gleam in his eyes. "Remember our earlier conversation?" Harry asked. Draco raised a brow in question. "Well, I realised that frosting has one particularly delicious advantage over fruitcake topping."

"Oh?" Draco asked. "And what might that be?"

Harry grabbed Draco and dragged him towards their bedroom. Holding up the frosting, he grinned. "It's spreadable!"
