one girl's fashion pit
Part of my wardrobe problem is that I'll look at an outfit or a piece of clothing and think "that's not me" or "that doesn't suit me, really" and I buy it and wear it.
Which is...either better or worse than that one store I used to shop at in Royal Oak where something always fit, and I could never find it anywhere else, so I bought it even if I had nowhere to wear it to. I still have those clothes from 12 years ago that I've never worn.
Someone--throw a garden party. Though I may need to buy shoes. All my shoes are pretty boring. Multiple variances of mary janes (with steel toes, t-straps, dragonflies), stompy boots (biker, laceups, steel blue), cowboy boots, ballet flats (ked-like, leather and strappy, simple), and, I suppose, sandals there somehwere. And krav shoes. Sandals are the question marks. And black heels.
So I end up with bursts of clothes that don't go together. Hiphugging jeans and floaty summer dresses and leather skirts and baby T shirts, 50s shirt dresses, and 70s scooter dresses, corsets and cinchers and chains...I love belts...anything that looks like an obi or a cummerbund, gimme it me. Halter tops showing lots of cleavage in gingham, short skirts, skirts to the ankle, spaghetti straps, turtlenecks, flat front slacks with a pretty enamelled belt. Pencil skirts and crinolines, Fluff and lace and clean lines. Solid colours and random hysterical patterns where polka dots go to war with plaid.
Velvet rubs up against Russian war wool on one side and well worn leather on the other side. The cotton is crisp and wrinkle free. The silk will need to be ironed before I can wear it. The sweaters are knit from something delicate to avoid a wool allergy.
Stockings are a place to play. They house a dragon. They repeat "bitch". They spatter colour. They present rings of colour. They attach to garter belts that match the sexy bra,
Neither my panties nor my socks are ever white. My socks are all black (with a Nike or Adidas logo) or grey or maybe beige. Who wears beige socks? I don't think I do.
Jewelery is mostly silver, mostly necklaces. often with stones (garnet) or glass. I have a lot of earrings too--I have 6 holes to fill. It gets complicated to coordinate. I'm rarely full of a morning.
And bracelets--big silver bracelets.
I suppose at this point there might be hair and face to pull all this whatever together. But I am to have 1.5mm of hair, so that doesn't need looking at. So since I'm not spending that time in front of the mirror, why bother do the makeup? I can put on some lip gloss in the car.
