As with the first page of Daikogen, my brush work really begins to shine on this final page. I’m clearly more comfortable and being much more bold with my strokes, textures and areas of black.

The way I set up this page, one can easily miss or read over the last two panels of the middle tier, however I don’t entirely mind this. The actions represented in those two panels are supposed to be fast and indicate Amy’s ability to quick-draw and hit a far-away target with ( Read more... )

The comic goes back to night scenes, a place Amy becomes very at home with, and I break out the brush again. I’ve gotten some odd comments about the rising text in the last panel, in future print editions I may edit it to a more normal reading orientation.

Page 12 was another gateway page to the Brush, this time for actual character art. While it does give them more weight than their surroundings, what I needed to work on clearly (and have since) was where I applied the weight.

The idea with this page was to show the pivitol event of the 4-year war touched on in Arcadia: the Silver clan betrays the Black clan and joins the Arcadian army in a siege of the Black side of the battle field in front of Alexandria’s gates. I’m not entirely sure if I pulled it ( Read more... )

Another page I’m very thrilled with. People had some major complaints about the tree in the lower tier bleeding into the Arcadian soldier’s armor in the middle teir, and I see their point. Next time I’ll be more careful about that kind of placement. I love the texturing I was able ( Read more... )

That big middle panel was supposed to have the internally-opposing armies of the east assembled to agree to a truce to fight the common enemy in the west…but I apparently forgot all about it!
