closing in on a 20 mile day

Mar 25, 2007 19:02

Major traffic on the bike trail today. I saw:
1 tandem, or as the song says "a bicycle built for two"
1 folding bike (unfolded..in motion)
2 wheelchairs (the actual kind you push...no hoverrounds or scooters)
1 recumbent...for those of you who don't know what a recumbent bike is heres a pic

...and of course a zillion little kids trying hard to ride in a straight line, but actually weaving back and forth as they tried to ride and look around at the same time. The kids were way cool. Every once in a while I would latch onto the end of a group of kids and whatever parental type was with them and just putt along behind them like we were all riding together.

It was a good ride,...my longest to date, but it was HOT out...in the high 80's. I'm gonna have to get a water bottle and cage at some point, but its not too big a deal at Suwanee Greenway because there are water fountains about every mile or so.

todays stats:
Total Distance:                         16.9mi
Average Speed:                        9.9mph
Time Moving:                            1hr 29min
Butt Pain from Seat Level:      Everything was cool til about mile 10, then it started to just get stupid. After that i just couldn't find a
                                                    good position on the seat

Also, today i had alot of pain in my feet on the second leg of the ride. I think this is a result of spending yesterday entirely in flip flops, which left the foot bottoms a little tender after running arond playing bocce all day. No blisters though. I'd probably be better off with some pedals that have more surface area to distribute the wieght onto. I think there may be some pronation or supination going on, even though that is something usually associated with running, not biking. In the past, on long rides, especially when using clipless pedals, I have experienced alot of foot numbness...

bicycle, fun, health
