I've been underwhelmed by the new Controller.Controller album. The song "PF" stands out in the same way that Metric's "Monster Hospital" makes for a good single on a slighly dissapointing sophmore effort. I don't know what I was expecting with this one...I guess I just found the History EP to be a little bit catchier and urgent sounding. My opinions may change as I've only heard each of these albums a couple times over. For a total throwback to Metric 2003-style, check out the song "Poster of a Girl". I think Meredith and I concluded that it's our favourite.
Item # 2 in my special file for "Things I Wish I Had Been Told Before I Signed On To Work Here" : Apparently I am expected to change up my full time daylight hours to full time NIGHT TIME hours for a week in November. That's right- instead of working the ol' 9 to 5 gig, I'll take on the vampire shift of 9pm to 5am! Weird, eh? Did I mention that our normal hours of business are 9:30am till 9pm? I don't actually care about this job. I'm not looking for more references, and I doubt I am even going to put it on my resume. The work is easy enough & I mostly just hate getting up at 7 in the morning. I should shut up though. Things could always be worse.
Next week is going to be awesome. It's going to be a small preview of what I hope 2006 has in store for me. I've got Thursday and Friday off work so I'm heading to Montreal. At last- some good shows are coming my way! I've got a one-two punch lined up with Cut Copy on Wednesday night and the Thursday night to end all Thursday nights: Adult. and Glasgow's own DJ dream team
OPTIMO!!! Damn, I wish I was living in Montreal right now (instead of in a few months ;) so I could attend all the MEG Festival happenings, including Jackson and His Computer Band, Broken Social Scene, Islands (ex-Unicorns), Duchess Says, Justice, Richie Hawtin, Rory Philips (Trash/UK), Tiga and Superpitcher! Holy fuck...If you are near Montreal next week, get your shit together and hit up the
MEG FESTIVAL!!! I'm off to go to the new Canadian War Museum with Dave Wellhauser, who is visiting today. I hope we have time to grab some pints later. Must.Drink.Pints.Today...
