I think I am through with DJing at house parties. I always end up getting silly drunk and it sounds like shit. There is ALWAYS some issue with the eqipment not working when I arrive (never really happens in the bars). I get too many people handing me CDs that they want me to play, including this one girl who seemingly arrived at the party with a handbag full of Nelly and Usher CDs. This same girl later got drunk and made me turn down the music so she could recite, for the pleasure of everyone in attendence, a rap that she had written herself that was about poo (literally). Everyone stopped what they were doing to watch, and judging from the faces of the crowd, I was not alone in feeling a mixture of annoyance and embarassment for her and her poorly rehearsed party trick. Bless her little heart for sharing that with us though, really.

Beyond this, I feel like I really missed the boat on talking to people who I had been DYING to see for ages. Especially Alison and Eric. Luckily I did see a bunch of people later on that evening but I left with an overall feeling of dissapointment that could have been avoided if I just ditched the whole DJing charade and put on a pre-made mix CD or something. BOLLOCKS.

Then, to top it all off, I stayed up with Dave all night to go to the Terry Fox run at 9am. I had been registered for over a week, and I came down to Kingston all prepared with running shoes and the whole lot. We arrive at 9am and it turns out that it wasn't actually starting until 2pm. It was a classic case of "what it says on the internet is different then what it says in the newspaper." I had to leave Kingston at 2pm to go to a family birthday party in Ottawa.

I hate how my hair goes curly when it's humid outside.
