There's a consult in the ER for a patient with possible infectious endocarditis and rather than getting the patient in the ICU, they want me to come look at him first. What I'm expecting is somebody fat and overweight with poor dental hygiene. What I'm not expecting is a seventeen year old kid that's built like an olympic runner. I take a look at ( Read more... )

I finish assessing a kid from this morning's car accident and he responds normally. The bruises on him temple and lower abdominal have me shipping him off to CT to rule out broken ribs and brain damage.

I make some notes on his chart and head over to the ER desk to get an update on the kid's mother. I notice Cristina behind the desk.

"Hey," I finish off my notes, before looking up at her. "You on the endocarditis kid?"
