I had a chance to scrub in on a surgery with Dr. Shepherd this morning but I turned it down and said that I had a really busy morning in the pit. I didn't. I just knew that Aubrey had an appointment this morning and that he was going into surgery

I slide out of the car and grab my bag, slinging it over my head, across my body. As I walk towards the sliding double doors, I stop abruptly. "Mel? What are you doing here?"

"I...thought you might need somebody here."

[dr_aubreyparker]

"For my appointment?" I question. I glance around. "Did Derek send you?"

[drmelbohland]

I shake my head, "No. He asked me to scrub in on a surgery. Which is why I knew you were alone."

[dr_aubreyparker]

"Oh, yeah. I knew he wasn't going to make it. He forgot to put it on his calendar. So...you just came because I was alone?"

[drmelbohland]

"Yeah." I answer, "Why else would I have come?"

[dr_aubreyparker]

"I don't know. That's nice. I guess I just didn't expect it. People don't do stuff like that."

[drmelbohland]

"Friends do."

[dr_aubreyparker]

Not my friends.

"I guess we should go in. My appointment is in five minutes."

[drmelbohland]

"Alright," I answer, walking along side her.

[dr_aubreyparker]

I walk into Mercy West and read the directory before I hit the button on the elevator.

"I wasn't comfortable using someone at Seattle Grace. We don't want everyone knowing." I don't, at least.

[drmelbohland]

"I won't tell. I haven't told anyone."

[dr_aubreyparker]

"Thanks." I step onto the elevator. I'm actually a little nervous.

"How's the thing with George?"

[drmelbohland]

"What thing with George?" I ask. It's not a topic. "So it's your first appointment, isn't it?"

[dr_aubreyparker]

"Yeah, it's my first appointment. I took a test at home."

[drmelbohland]

"Oh."

I can't believe Derek is missing this.
