For the past few weeks, I've been fighting off a persistent (and annoying) cough. So we're installing full body scanners at our airports. For those of you not in the know, these scanners provide full-body images to security personnel, and will purportedly be able to see through your clothing.

Unless you're under 18. Apparently, we won't be scanning anyone under 18 because that could be construed as making child pornography.

In Canada (and other places without the words "United" and "States" in their names), the day after Christmas is a satutory holiday called Boxing Day (we don't know why it's called that. Really. There was an article in this morning's paper about illegal immigrants in Toronto, and particularly about one named "Nell" who has received "life-saving abdominal surgery (and) racked up $10,000 in debt -- largely from hospital and ongoing prescription costs."
