This is all about Z Nation but it has pictures so you should stay anyway!
Hi, hello! I haven't read my flist in much too long so I will do that next but right now I need to vomit my feelings somewhere about Z Nation because I'm obsessed with it. That's what happens when you're vidding a show.
Z Nation is a post-apocalyptic zombie show that has some intensely dark episodes but is also incredibly goofy and it somehow (mostly) manages to navigate that goofy/dark mix with aplomb. It does this because the characters are grounded in their emotional truth, and they are a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Roberta Warren is in my top tier of All Time characters. This is her:

And that doesn't even have Sun or Hector, both of who joined in season 3. Or Citizen Z! Or Kaya!
I ended up absorbing Z Nation by doing computer stuff while AHH watched it in the same room until all of a sudden I was invested. I went back and started watching from the beginning and now it sits next to Prison Break in the fannish corner of my heart for "absurd but dearly beloved and actually good shows that I trust not to hurt me." It's a very specific corner of my fannish heart, and these are basically the only two shows there. Hee.
ANYWAY. The thing is that Warren is incredible: badass, take-no-shit, sexy, caring mom of the group. When she loves someone, I love them. And y'all, she loves Murphy (even if she doesn't want to admit it). This is Murphy:

(Look at that height difference! So good!) It turns out Murphy's a zombie-human blend and he's THE WORST but I also love him. It's VERY COMPLICATED. Warren loves him, but not in a sexual way (not yet at least; season 3 - the last pic - is by far the most attractive and not literally falling apart that he's been) and canonically he loves her. They have this extremely intense thing between them where I'm fine with each of them being paired off with other people as long as they are always within arm's length of each other. The ~thing~ really came to the forefront at the end of season 2 (Warren protecting Murphy and Murphy awash in feelings because you can tell no one had done that for him before omg) but due to valid plot reasons they had to split up and then spent most of this last season apart (and at odds because see above re: Murphy is the WORST) and it was painful for both of them. And me. Hee.
BUT THEN. They were reunited again at the end of the season! YAY! Here they are together again for the first time:
(He's so happy!) But then Warren got infected with Murphy's zombie blend blood which means now technically he can read/control her mind so things are about to get EVEN WEIRDER between them.
What I want now is a fic where Murphy desperately wants Warren to love him but he doesn't want to "make" her do it with this new mind control and so he has to fight all of his base urges to do just that and NO ONE IS GOING TO WRITE IT because the whole fandom is obsessed with this guy:
Oh 10k. (Yes he's called 10K. It's a whole thing.) It's not your fault fandom is so predictable. You're adorable and you have so many issues but I just don't care to read any fic about you. I did enjoy when Warren did this, though:
I want Warren fic! ALL THE WARREN FIC. I also especially want Warren/Sun fic:
Or Warren/Hector:
I mean.
But most of all I want Warren^Murphy fic (or Warren/Murphy. Or Warren&Murphy). I just need Warren and Murphy to explore the tie that binds them together in all forms.
I need other people in this fandom with me because I still have to finish this Dragon Age fic and cannot be writing stuff right now. Although the show is really gory a LOT of the time so I know it's not for everyone. (But: multiple POC characters! Warren starts out as a sidekick and BECOMES the heroic leader and gets to experience womanpain! Gorgeous lighting! Ridiculous slow-mo!) I hope my vid snares a couple of you. Hee.
