"Sneeze" (SV 6x02), "Wither" (SV 6x03), "Arrow" (SV 6x04)
Spoilers for SV episodes from four seasons ago! Some shallow observations, from puddle-deep to kiddie pool!
Sneeze, 6x02
Up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a freaking BARN DOOR! Um, Lois, you may want to duck.
Okay, first of all? The premise for this episode is ADORKABLE. "Uh-oh, does Clarkie have the sniffles?" Ahahaha! Clark's sneeze is a mini-tornado, awesome. I love Chloe's reaction when he tells her and I love Clark faking her out. Hee!
Lana. Lana Lana Lana. Regardless of her surprising fierceness and bad-ass survivor instincts in 6x01 (ETA: Oh, wait! No, I'm thinking of 5x01, not 6x01. This is what I get for skipping from season to season.) there is nothing that bores me faster than Lana's love-life. I realise that means I don't really get the full Lana experience--which means I shouldn't be judging her character--but honest to God, I may very well stab myself in the face if I have to pay attention to the Lex/Lana ~drama~ for even a second.
OLLIE. Okay, Justin Hartley isn't really my type, but I still think he is super hot. And look! He can act!
Wither, 6x03
Lana walks into Lex's office in the Luthor mansion. Monica--who appears to be a Luthor employee whose job involves, I dunno, costuming or possibly managing Lex's wardrobe--takes one look at Lana and says, "My God, your complexion is even more radiant than in the magazines."
.......AHAHAHAHAHA!!! SERIOUSLY?? SERIOUSLY?? What the hell, Smallville writers??
Maybe I should watch more of the Lex/Lana ~drama~ if there are more such unintentionally hilarious lines to be had.
Jimmy Olsen, n'aww. I have a soft spot for Aaron Ashmore, just because his twin brother Shawn played Jake on the television adaptation of the Animorphs book series. I like that Jimmy is so keen on Chloe. They're kinda sweet together.
Dude. SO MUCH TENTACLE PORN.
HI OLIVER. Oliver is doing a free handstand. I am impressed. So is Lois! (And why shouldn't she be, with Oliver sweaty and half-naked. *g*) Ollie doesn't make it easy for her, which gets her back up. I like that he keeps her on her toes, much like she does with Clark. Hmm, yeah, I think Lois/Oliver gets my seal of approval. Hee!
And again, I'm reminded that Lois is a rom-com and Lana is a Greek tragedy. Were the Greek tragedies fun for anyone?
Arrow, 6x04
When Lois opens her hand to reveal the ring and necklace she grabbed off Green Arrow's neck, you can hear the Batman motif. I'm pretty sure that's what it is, or pretty darn close to it. Niiiice. Also, her triumphant smile!
Love the strong handshake between Clark and Oliver when they meet. SV's version of WORLD'S FINEST HOYAY. Ollie and Lois and Clark: "The way Lois talked about you, I thought you'd be a little more--" "A little more what? Of a geek?" Ahahaha! Also: "Okay, if you boys are done marking your territory--which for clarification? Is not me--I have a front page article that's missing a few key details. Goodnight boys, now play nice!" Hee! ♥
The idea that Lana can outrun Lex? More of SV's trademark Don't Show, Tell! *facepalm* Look, I get that not every actress can be Action Girl--KK isn't Erica Durance and that's fine. But why write Lana as a runner if you can't film it? You might as well make her a champion chess player, so we can see her play a game.
Damn, I kinda love Ollie! Balancing the billionaire business mogul half and the pinko commie liberal half is... interesting. Not sure I quite buy it, not the way Bruce's background works with his more fascist personality, but I love Ollie's conviction.
Oh, Clark. I think you just broke an art deco lamp or something.
I have no context since I skipped the previous Lex/Lana scenes, but Lana threatening that scientist was pretty damn hot.
♥♥♥ Omigod, I love the Clark/Chloe team-up, the Chloe/Lois team-up, and the Clark/Lois team-up, and yes, I love Action Girl!Lois. But the Clark/Lois/Oliver antagonistic OT3 might be my new favourite! (Also, damn, they are rocking the Superman and Batman themes in this ep!)
LOVE the final scene between Clark and Ollie. Yes, thank you, Ollie, for that call to arms!
