Who: mirageof-deceit and rahl-loyalist
When: Backdated to the day of cake. A delicious birthday cake that Cara didn't partake in. Birthdays aren't her thing, really.
Where: Cloud and Cara's apartment.
Format: Paragraph.
What: Cara returns to the apartment after training to find that Cloud has an unexpected surprise for her. She's not a big fan of surprises.
Warnings: None that I'm aware of. Might change later.

There was a pleasant warmth to her muscles as she made her way back to the apartment. She'd pushed herself during her training session, but Cara hadn't cared in the slightest. She needed to force her body. The injuries she'd sustained a few weeks back had taken far too long to heal, and the Mord Sith actually desired Zedd's healing magic. Her thoughts caused the Mord Sith to slow her pace momentarily as her thoughts drifted back to the Midlands and what had been left behind.

It had been many months since she'd been pulled to this world, and despite her distance from the Midlands, Cara had never once forgotten about her duties. Yet this was the first time in weeks that she'd thought about Richard and the others in more than a thought regarding the explanation of her world. Glancing down to the agiel at her hip, Cara subtly brushed her hand over the handle. There was the usual burning pain that accompanied touching the weapon, and she took a moment to smile softly while taking comfort in the pain. It meant that Richard was still alive, and while she might not have been there to protect him, Cara could at least relax in the knowledge that the Seeker still lived.

The expression was fleeting, and soon enough she'd begun to make her way back into the apartment and up the stairs. She couldn't allow for herself to become distracted like she did, and hardened her gaze in response. Distractions would only get you killed, and Cara was determined to continue her protection duties. Cloud was her focus until her return to the Midlands, and thinking back on the past would get her nowhere. Schooling her expression, Cara reached out to turn the handle moments before the door opened and she stepped inside.

A quick initial scan of the apartment didn't bring forth any clue as to Cloud's status. Closing the door behind her, Cara smoothly reached back over his shoulder and unhooked the longbow from the harness on her back.

cloud strife, cara
