Riza was glad that she seemed to have made a right choice in her gift to Mei. She smiled at the little girl. Whatever Mei had been through in her life, it seemed she had not lost her childhood completely and Riza was warmly and inexplicably glad of it.

To hear that Scar had described her as trustworthy was . . . a surprise. She wasn't sure what she had done to deserve that from him, but she intended not to prove him wrong.

"Regarding Ling, I hadn't seen him for months back home," she began, addressing the second request first. "He was with the Elrics, fighting the homunculus Gluttony when I saw him last. But I spoke to him here. He seems to have come from a time very close It seems he has acquired a Philosopher's stone only by way of becoming a homunculus as well. If he is the same as the other homunculi, then the stone is his heart now."

She paused and gathered her thoughts. She still wasn't sure how to tell everything that had happened that day, her last day in Amestris. "And as for me, I was in the underground of Central City, underneath the Central Headquarters buildings. I was with Scar, Edward Elric, and Colonel Mustang. We were looking for you, but also for the person the homunculi call Father. We had reason to believe that that day was the time chosen by that person to make his move on the country, so we meant to stop him.

"While we were down there, my throat was cut by a sword and I was left to bleed, my comrades all held back from helping me. You came, along with three chimeras, and turned the tide of the fight. My memories of it are a little hazy, as I was beginning to lose consciousness from blood loss, but you sealed my wound and brought me around when I had probably been only moments from death."
