[The audio crackles a little bit, or maybe it's something in the background rustling - paper, perhaps. And then, a soft sigh. When she speaks, her voice is soft, too.]This place isn't right. It's one thing to bring people in here against their will, but then to torment them with pieces of their home, their own memories? Is that really what we're ( Read more... )

Of course, take all the time you need. I'd ask if you're all right, but I guess you've already answered that.

Thank you. I knew you'd understand. It's just... ah, I haven't been feeling right, lately.

Everyone else seems so stressed out, too. Hopefully the party will help lighten things up.

I'm not sure that anyone else is feeling right either. But really, Nina, if you need anything, of course just ask.

I will. I really appreciate it, Nagi.

...actually, I--

[Paaauuse, sort of awkward.]

Is it possible that you've spoken to someone named Ingel on the network before? A young man?

Do not assume some god will bring salvation.

Prefer to think we are capable of helping ourselves.

[[ooc: So I realized Ror hasn't spoken to Nina at all on the Network and they're Night Patrol partners. xDD; But then, I suppose, he doesn't like wimminz, so it's in character.]]

Oh!

[Yeah, she's a little startled to hear him, but recovers quickly enough.]

I think you're right, we shouldn't just leave things up to chance. But it's easy to start feeling helpless, with things as bad as they are sometimes.

...I guess I'm a little homesick, too.

[ooc | it's cool! :) it's partially my fault too, i need to be more active with her, sob.]

Hurm. Have given up helplessness. Will survive under any means possible.

... [He makes a small noise, as if he agrees with the statement.]

[[ooc: c: No probs! I'm not very active with him either, tbh.]]

That's... not really such a bad philosophy. Sometimes we have to do things we wouldn't normally just in order to survive.

[She pauses a little, unsure of how much she really wants to agree with him.]

But we shouldn't take it too far, even then.

[Have a smiling Aaron!] I-If it helps any, I-I'm not angry, Miss Nina.

I'm glad to hear that, Aaron. I guess you arrived just in time to miss what everyone's so upset over... I'd be thankful for that.

How's your head feeling?

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is help yourself.

[She lets out a soft, thoughtful hmmm.]

You're right. It isn't that I don't think I - or any of the rest of us - can do it, but things have been so difficult lately, and I miss...

[..traaaailing off there.]

Well, it doesn't hurt to dream of being rescued, as long as you don't come to rely on it, right?

I'd count my blessings that no one got anything alive.

[a sigh, and a gentler tone]

There's some kind of church here. Go there if it makes you feel better.

[OKAY WHAT she's. Quiet for a moment while she thinks about that.]

...a-ah, well. Better something alive than dead, though? I'm not sure I'd put it past whoever's leaving these for us.

[And another pause. This one rather less horrified.]

I wasn't thinking about church, really, but now that you mention it I might try that. It's so long since I've been to one, I wonder if it would help.

I've heard about the dragon that came a few months back. I'd rather have that dead than alive.

Better not to give them any ideas.

Were you religious at home?

The... ahh, well, yes. That's one thing that would be better off not found alive, wouldn't it?

[A moment of quiet as she considers his question.]

I can't really say I am, although some of my foster parents were. But w-- I never got to stay in one place for very long as a child, so I guess it just didn't stick as well as it might have.

...I like to think that there might be someone watching over us, but people should help themselves, first.
