The sporting life, part 2

Mar 22, 2007 00:17

Been watching fat intake for the past two days and things seem to be a bit better. Even when I fell off the wagon tonight at Chick-Fil-A for the kids' school's fundraiser, it didn't bring actual pain - just an uncomfortable, heartburny, bloated feeling, which is an improvement, though not ideal. Passed up on the yummy-looking cheesecake at ednoria this evening. (Appears that crazieabby will be doing some sitting for them, too - a Good Thing.)

I have indeed gained weight from not exercising; my pants are a bit too snug of late.* Fortunately, spring has more or less sprung and I can do active things to get myself back into shape. Unfortunately, I still have to get through the play, during which I will not be jumping about playing Harlequin, and even beyond that, with the exception of muzikmaker21, you (local) peoples on the flist are no good, because all you do for exercise is running or biking, and ignore me when I suggest anything else. Well, courtesy of my birthday party I do have a wonderful bike, which will be ridden, so I am joining 'em where I couldn't beat 'em...but, while very good exercise, running and biking are forms of transportation, not recreation, and therefore efbq is also suggesting I go to other crowds for games of pick-up soccer, floor hockey, ultimate, or like that.

On a similar sporting note, toda - ah, er, yesterday, now, had a great couple of events pop up on my CDAY:
On this day...
  • 1970 Vinko Bogataj wipes out during a ski jumping tournament in Germany; later immortalized as "the Agony of Defeat".
  • 1991 Ron Tugnutt makes 70 saves against the Bruins to earn the Nordiques a 3-3 tie.

* My guess would be that I now weigh 80 kg or perhaps even more. I know it may not sound like much, but that's my top weight ever - and, to make the embarrassing admission, I'm only 171 cm tall. (I'll spare my fellow Yanks the math: that's 177 lbs. and 5' 7 1/2".)
