So I told my dad what songs I was thinking we could sing as a duet for my senior recital, and he got a sort of flabbergasted look on his face. After a minute or two, my mom looked at me and said, "He's agonizing. Can you give him a day?" I promised my mom I'd call in a day or two, and then we can discuss things.
And then, several minutes later, I realized (with Nikki's help) that my mom was wearing the exact same white sweater that Amy's mom was wearing last week when we all went over there for Amy's birthday. Crazy.
Next week I'm going home for Sunday dinner. Daniel and Lisa (and Toby) will be there, and we will take it as a chance to celebrate my birthday. It's on the eighth, and I have class that night, so we figured this would be easier.
Man, my birthday snuck up on me this year. How does that happen, anyway?
I've talked to the executive committee of the Chorale and have worked out my schedule for the next two months, and I'm pretty sure I'll say "yes" to Mr. Flickinger's idea of being a guest soloist. The committee seems cool with it, and to hear it from the soprano section, they need me back! At least a little bit. So there it is: I'm not going to miss Chorale Tour this year and I am going to Kansas and Colorado!
Well, maybe. I still want to hear from two more people. Hopefully I can corner them tomorrow. But it's a tentative "yes."
Work was crazy again, but after a long and involved conversation with Amy yesterday about 90's Christian rock, she brought in Jars of Clay's first CD and Going Public by the Newsboys to play in the back room. It was awesome. After close we cranked it up, too. Jars of Clay got to "Flood" and Amy, Nikki, and I were all practically screaming the chorus. And if I can't swim after forty days and my mind is crushed by the crashing waves, lift me up so high that I cannot fall, lift me, ohhhh! Lift me up!" Jason was giving us the funniest looks.
Xander, when he is hot, pants. I've never seen a cat do that. Or rather, I've seen my old cat Olympia do it maybe TWICE in his entire fifteen-year existence, but I've never seen a cat do it as much as Xander. It's kinda funny.
