I've built two "cat shelves" for Jules. They consist of particle-board, a couple of steel brackets, some carpet samples, and a lot of nailing and gluing. Pretty sure they'll hold up even if Jules ends up huge. (He's at least six pounds now, and his paws are still too big for him, so he's got a way to go yet.) He's shown interest in climbing. I plan on buying a sturdy corner shelf and attaching a bed or something to it with velcro, so he can sleep high up too.

It probably would have been cheaper to buy pre-made stuff. Then again, I took this as an excuse to buy a proper staple gun. (Oh the power!) Also a table for my storage room/basement where I can put all my big, messy projects. I love that I have a place for big, messy projects. I have some stuff that needs repainting. And I built shelves! Building is fun.

I am amassing quite the collection of tools. Let's see: electric drill, crowbar, staple gun, voltage detector... I could probably use a laser level, and I want to get a ratchet. One of these days, buying all this stuff is going to pay off. I hope.

There's still so much furniture I need, though, and other stuff for my house. *sigh* My walls are still so bare.

For my birthday, if anyone asks, I'm just gonna say, "Things for my house: decorations, pictures, photos, etc." I've already asked my mom if she would consider doing some art. I hope she doesn't think I keep harping on the art thing, but she's creative and artistic, and I think it would do her good to get back into it.

Though they're still busy with their kitchen. The cabinets are in, the fridge is in its new place, the floor has been installed, the ceiling and the lights are in. If I recall correctly, that leaves the new oven, an interior window, the countertop, painting, and tiling, and they've probably gotten to some of that this week. After that, they start on the (junky old) breezeway. Some days I wonder if they'll ever stop. They complain, but they have so much fun.

I'm still amazed that I got a cat who likes cuddling. He will climb into my arms, snuggle and purr, and bat at my nose. All on his own.
