So I'm looking up how to take care of my boots.  (And feeling a little guilty for how I haven't taken care of my leather clogs.  But all is not lost for them.)  It shouldn't cost too much, nor take too much work, to keep them clean and pretty.  For one, apparently you can use olive oil, walnut oil, or the inside of a banana peel for polish.  Yeah.  Unless they get a scratch that needs filling in, I'll probably go with the last one.  Bananas are good!

And vinegar saves the day again in that it will get salt stains off.  I mean, I'm not planning on doing a whole lot of tromping in the snow, but my church's caretaker can get a little salt-happy after a good storm.

(Vinegar is fun.  It will dissolve anything involving salt or calcium.  It even makes a decent fabric softener.  But I do have to remember that it's a mild acid, with all the problems of mild acids.)

Had a productive day.  Went to the farmer's market (the last one of the season) and got pumpkin butter and another tiny pie.  (Cherry almond this time.)  Got my hair cut.  Bought household supplies.  Got my lenses replaced.  (FINALLY!)  Am doing laundry.

The trees are turning colors, russet and gold against a cornflower-blue sky.  The weather is warm again, but the nights are cold.  The nasturtians and the geranium are determined to get every last bit of blossoming in before they go.

clothes, food, yay, weather
