So I bought the new cut of Stargate SG-1's pilot, "Children of the Gods", that came out this year.  And on the whole I liked it.  Several cringe-inducing moments have been removed, and I'd swear there's bits of scenes that have been restored, 'cause I'm fairly certain there had not previously been a bit on Abydos when Jack's team joins Daniel & Co. for a meal and Daniel mentions how the probe sent through after the first mission got turned into cookware.  The new editing seems to have worked because the pacing feels better.  There are some really excellent new effects, mainly in the form of digital matte painting.  There's no longer any nudity.  It's really a good new version.  But I do have one niggle:

Carter's famous "MacGyver" line has been switched to "jerry-rig".  Dang it, the old line was perfect!  What's wrong with a little meta?

Bought a whole bag of apples, locally-grown Jonathans.  They are gorgeous.  (And cheap.)

Had lunch with Amy today.  I should do that more often.  Her suggestion for food was Schlotzsky's Deli, which I haven't often been to, and they had surprisingly good roast beef.  Roast beef with bacon and cheese.  Resistance was futile.

Y'know, Google makes a fairly decent spellcheck.  When it comes to names or proper nouns, I can count on the "Did you mean" thing to tell me if I got it right.
