We finally made it to Disney World

So here's my Disney story. In 1973, my family took a vacation. This was a big deal for us, since my dad was a farmer and an electrician; he took his two weeks vacation in the spring and fall, one week to plant crops, one week to harvest. We occasionally went to my uncle's cabin, but other than that, didn't take regular vacations. So for whatever ( Read more... )

You know, I keep forgetting that you are only 3 years younger than I - and I grew up with the same sort of Sunday nights, at least before my folks "got saved" and we started going to church every Sunday night. I've never been to Disney, but... I dunno. Without kids? Add it to the list of things I'll probably never do because I don't have kids.

It sounds like you had a great time... and I'm so glad for you!

I know several people who have gone to Disney without kids- one couple went while she was pregnant because it was the last time they could go without kids (and then had an equal amount of fun taking their daughter there before she was 1 year old. She had a blast). It's worth considering, at least- they will allow you in even if you don't have children with you.

I went twice- both times because Mom was going to a conference in Orlando, and she deicded it wasn't fair to not take all of us. Good times. Is 20000 Leagues under the seas still there?

No 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Whatever is in the big ball at EPCOT was also closed for remodeling. The kids thought the "Carousel of Progress" was totally hokey, but that's the point of it ( ... )

I've done MGM twice and loved it, but then I am movie geek!

I'm glad you got to go and ride the teacups. I remember Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights too.

Now having been to both Disneyland and Disney World, I actually like Disneyland much better. I guess part of the problem was that I had to go to Florida, but also, many of the rides are shortened and so many of the really good ones are missing.
I found the best part was the Animal Kingdom.
The Pirates of Caribbean ride at Disney World is all wrong. It is way too short and it is missing some of the best effects.
Glad you guys had fun!
