Sunday Reading

I have become a big fan of Google Reader over the past several weeks. I have experimented with it in the past; however, I didn’t feel that there were enough people (that I read, stalk, etc) using RSS that it warranted using Reader rather than visiting their site or, more than likely, my LiveJournal friends page. It feels like people are starting to migrate away from sites such as LiveJournal and creating their own personal websites once more; thankfully almost every website implements RSS and this have sparked my love for Reader. I have to agree that I missed managing my own website with my own personal content, I just hope that I can maintain the reader base I had with other sites and continue to post somewhat useful information.

I noticed that David posted numerous links to reading material today mostly regarding JavaScript and Django. Since I have become a big fan of each I feel it’s important to mention them. Sadly I haven’t had time to read all of the articles but I found the How Django Processes Requests article extremely useful.

I also stumbled across an interesting new (I believe) photo slideshow software the other day called Animoto thanks to Ken.  This software takes a piece of music and a series of photos to create a customized presentation. According to their site it analyzes the music and photos to create a slide show and it’s unlink anything I have seen before.

It has been several weeks since I last went to the firing range but I finally went back today. I have been wanting to get back to the range but my knee prevented me from going. I decided to rent a Sig P226 since I have been thinking of purchasing it for several months. I was amazed by the smoothness, quality, and recoil compared to any weapon I have ever shot. This showed me just how much of a different class it is than my current PT111 PRO. It’s somewhat understandable since the PT111 is a sub-compact concealment weapon while the P226 is a full size pistol but the quality, and price difference, is remarkable. I don’t know if I will be able to purchase one soon but I believe I have found my next purchase when I am able to.
