tiring fun.

yesterday we were out all day. we realized that it was chris's last actual day off (aside from tomorrow) until, oh, christmas break. starting sunday, he's got a rigid schedule of work 3 days a week (12 hour shifts) and school 4 days a week. not sure what tomorrow will bring, maybe just laying around doing nothing (in a good way!) but yesterday, we went out.

I started out by suggesting early in the morning that we go to the zoo. (we'd tried to go a month or so ago, but we got there and it was closed early for some special event, not mentioned on the website. grr...). so off we went for the day. Germaine's favorite part was the polar bear. she's not scared of them. but she is scared of seals. Linus seemed enamored by the Rhino, and Dietrich, well, the only animal name he said was "monkey".

in the evening we went to the next town over, where they were having a movie in the park on a huge screen. it was Ratatouille, which we own, but I thought it'd be fun anyway. I even had some of those glow bracelet things that people wear for july 4th or halloween, so I gave the kids some and we went. Germaine and Linus spent the entire time making new friends with the kids in front of us and even more kids behind us... Dietrich fell asleep before the movie was over, which was expected, and even Chris, who at first didn't want to go because he didn't want to be out late, having to work early this morning, said that more towns should do this and was genuinely impressed with the quality of the images.

today everyone took turns taking naps. D is really the only one that naps regularly, so it was a bit out of the ordinary to have all 3 put themselves down at various points. and each, of course, indicated (while another was sleeping) interest in watching a movie at home... which I said would happen after EVERYONE was awake. now they're watching 101 dalmations, which we got from the library and have to return tomorrow.
