Making plans for London

Apr 18, 2007 22:23

On Friday 4th May we head to Londinium to have a final meet-up with our Kiwi friends, who'll be staying with mates of theirs, before they fly off back to NZ for good.  The plan is to head to Fabric (how have I still not been there? It has Diplo, Teebe, Calyx .. don't really care about the others, that'll do me) for a farewell night out, but we're trying to make it into more of a treat than a flying visit.

We could just bus up, go out, head back home on the first bus back.  Do-able, but tiring, and we'd feel like shoite.  Chris and I really want to book a room somewhere so that we can enjoy it that bit more.  I think we'll take a half day on Friday to reach London by early evening, so that we can book in, relax, maybe find somewhere to eat then get ready to go out ...

I'm just trying to choose a room to book.  Good god I annoy even myself when trying to buy things.  I am the anti-impulse shopper!!  I have to search as much as I can, to find every possible option so that I can make sure I get a good deal and the best thing for us.  OK, it's a sensible plan really, for me of little money.  If I could afford to be frivolous, maybe I would be.

Anyway, Fabric is near the Farringdon tube, Kings Cross seems to be the nearest area which has a choice of affordable options.  I had trouble finding anything on the net in our price range within easier walking distance of the club.  I'm hoping it won't be too much hassle to get between the two (having trouble with my sense of scale while studying maps!)

I'd like to make the most of the whole event and be able to enjoy having the hotel, so I'm hoping if we spend a little extra to have a nicer room, we'll spend enough time in it for it to be worth it.  There'll be a group of us heading down, and I don't know who plans to stay where.  I think I'd end up gutted if we nipped back to the hotel for just long enough to grab our things and leave! Oh well, we shall see, but we need to book pronto before everywhere gets snapped up.
