Travel plans

In addition to the first official snow day of the year, I got some more good news today. Well, mixed news but mostly good. First, the bad news is I won't be going to Taiwan after all. BUT in its place, I'll be going back to Belize in its place--and my ticket is paid for, which means I'm going to spend more time there and just hang out for a few weeks. I'll probably have a week on the boat, sailing around, and then a week (or most likely two) hanging out in town with the locals and on the beach and also venturing inland to the rainforest and Mayan ruins.
As much as I'd like to experience a new part of the world, relaxing in the warm sun sounds way better right now. And in a way, spending time in the coastal town of Placencia will be a new-ish experience--last time I was there, I only had about two days to explore the town and only started to find the cooler places on the second day. Having more time, I'll have a chance to see as much of the town as I want and have the chance to head to other parts (inland).
Rooms are only between $25-50 for a single cabana within view of the ocean, and everything else is pretty inexpensive due to the favorable exchange rate. I'm looking forward to eating lots of fresh, tropical fruits, homemade chips and salsa, fresh seafood, and drinking the local rum and beer.
The one thing that's kind of a bummer is that I won't have any friends around to hang out with. I'll be on the boat with my parents for the first week, but for the time after that, Placencia would be way more fun with a few good friends.

This might be getting ahead of myself, but with the money I'll be saving by only spending money on hotel accommodations and food and not any travel fares, I might be able to travel somewhere else stateside when I get back. I'd love to go back to San Francisco and spend another 10 days roaming around the city, but it would also be pretty fun to head somewhere else (possibly somewhere in Oregon, or New Orleans, or even backpacking in the mountains).
But after dropping off the map for as long as I'll be in Belize, I might be wise to focus more on getting a job first when I get back. (Then again, I should travel while I have the freedom)
