Oh man, it's perfect! I love it! (I'm a bit jealous.) This is the first 63!Laurie fic I've really believed in. Wonderful!

Hee, thanks. I think I've only ever seen one 63!Laurie in fic before. (Although, ages ago, there was an unfilled prompt on the kinkmeme for Rorschach/cocky teenage 63!Laurie, and my inner perv still CANNOT UNSEE IT.)

This fic has been sitting on my hd for months; I thought, 'what the heck, I'm still strangely intrigued by 63!Laurie's manpain', so I tidied it up and posted it.

Is it because regular Laurie's pain is ALREADY manpain? :D

I agree it's believable. It's so believable half the effect of the fic to me is getting to see how much the original scene follows reversed gender conventions. It's like, your 63 fic is not speculation, it's explanation.

And I love the paragraph about tomcatting. I'm sure that's how it really was for Laurie.

I've always taken issue with the "Laurie's not kinky enough to fuck Jon while he's two people" interpretation that Laurie-haters of the scene, especially considering she's so bold and experimental with Dan. I think it had to do with Jon not being considerate and Laurie not feeling respected. I don't know how much of that is a guy thing or just perceived as a guy thing but ... eh, I find it overall more compelling if that was the way she really felt, and I think it is.

I really enjoyed this! It's interesting seeing how the scene goes differently, and I love your characterization of Jane. Particularly "No," says Jane, as if she's some sort of sweet-natured kindergarten teacher who's trying to teach him the alphabet. "I was with you in the bedroom, as well." made me LOL.

Glad you liked it. :) Jon has taken a long time to grow on me, but I think he's finally won me over by virtue of being SO. VERY. AWKWARD. sometimes.

"Am I too thin? Not thin enough? Would you like me to appear younger or older?"

CREEPY. Your 63!Manhattan made me make a D: face right there. In a good way.
Your version of 63!Laurie made me think. I've been trying to write a 63!Laurie fic for the longest time, and I've always thought that the media would be easier on him... but after reading this, I suspect that he'd be painted as the dumb bodybuilder type (or the Boy-Toy only kept around to fuck the lady boss).
Love that your Larry has the same issues as Laurie. Personally, I think Laurie/Larry have a great need to feel respected because they've been either manipulated or treated like bimbos their whole life, which really comes across in this fic. Also, I think Larry secretly wanted to be a veterinarian. And that he read The Feminine Mystique and fucking loved it. But he'd never admit it (well, except to Dan).

Yeah, that's what I thought. I initially assumed that people would have less of a problem with the way that he's been sexualised, but...

It's bad enough to be seen as a 'kept woman', but for a guy to be seen as a 'kept man', well... A lot of people just aren't going to take him seriously. At all. And, generally speaking, women are probably more accustomed to not being taken seriously, but men... aren't. So Larry gets to feel angry about his diminished station in life, and get treated like a freak because he doesn't really fit the gender norm ( ... )

Well, I'd Memory this if I could, but... I can't seem to find the option on your page anywhere. :o

Anyway, it's a very satisfying piece of writing, and "63!"'s usually aren't-- for me. Carry on. :)

Thank you. :) I seem to have taken to 63!fic for some reason, probably because it's a fun little 'What If' type exercise.

The 'Memory' link is at the top of the page, just above and to the right of where my icon is, in the 'Previous | Edit | Tag | Memories | Tell a Friend | Track | Next' bit.

Thanks. (Wonder why it didn't work before. I probably clicked on the other "Memories" thing by mistake.)

I'd love to write a 63! for my fandom, but it'll have to wait until I finish my current project-- in hopes that if I really focus hard, it won't end being complete and total... uh, cheese. :/

This is such a convincing Larry, and Jane too for that matter. I got that "yeah, that's them" feeling so, hooray :D

It's amazing how infinitely more creepy the idea of Jon being nothing more than detached-object-with-brain elsewhere-during-sex becomes when he's written as a woman. Oh my god.

Also the idea mentioned up-page of Larry, Dan, and Rorschach mangsting together in a small room has filled me with a horrible evil glee so thanks for that too

Thank you!

I was wondering how recognizable 63!Laurie would be, but I told myself, 'just try to write a more civilised, more sensitive version of the Comedian, and you should be okay'.

Yeah, it's kinda 'lie back and think of england' taken to the extreme. Disinterested in having sex with your partner? Let him hump your clone! D:

You're welcome. GIANT MANGSTFESTS are an imporant part of the superhero genre. I blame Ditko.
