CREEPY. Your 63!Manhattan made me make a D: face right there. In a good way.

Excellent!

I've been trying to write a 63!Laurie fic for the longest time, and I've always thought that the media would be easier on him... but after reading this, I suspect that he'd be painted as the dumb bodybuilder type (or the Boy-Toy only kept around to fuck the lady boss).

Yeah, that's what I thought. I initially assumed that people would have less of a problem with the way that he's been sexualised, but...

It's bad enough to be seen as a 'kept woman', but for a guy to be seen as a 'kept man', well... A lot of people just aren't going to take him seriously. At all. And, generally speaking, women are probably more accustomed to not being taken seriously, but men... aren't. So Larry gets to feel angry about his diminished station in life, and get treated like a freak because he doesn't really fit the gender norm.

(If you put 63!Laurie, male!Rorschach and male!Dan in a room together the sheer amount of manpain and gender anxiety would cause the universe to collapse in on itself. 63!Laurie would be like, 'I AM UNWORTHY AS A MAN BECAUSE I GET TREATED LIKE A SUBSERVIENT SEX TOY', Dan would be like, 'I AM UNWORTHY AS A MAN BECAUSE I FEEL USELESS AND OBSOLETE' and Rorschach would be like 'I AM UNWORTHY AS A MAN BECAUSE I CAN'T RESCUE LITTLE GIRLS also deep inside I'll forever be a short, skinny, scared ginger kid named Walter :(' and between them, they'd probably create a vortex of mangst that would distort time and space.)

I totally want to keep 63!Laurie as a feminist who likes animals. I mean, heck, if I imagine 63!Rorschach as a misogynistic gynophobe despite the genderswap, then 63!Laurie gets to stay a feminist, dammit.
