I'd been thinking for a while that I should fly...
I'm leaving Texas tomorrow.
I'll be gone for a week.
I will be in Florida.
My mom took a much-deserved week off because, originally, my aunt was supposed to visit from Puerto Rico with her kids. That fell through, but my mom kept the requested time off, and decided Saturday that the optimal thing would be to visit Florida! Actually, the family originally discussed Vegas and New Orleans, but my brother is a year too young to visit the casinos and we've never been to New Orleans nor could we find someone else who could recommend places for us to visit. Florida, we're at least familiar with the major parks (though it's been years since we last visited), so we kind of know what we're in for and how to make the most of this week.
There might be a visit to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I'm excited. I can't even begin to explain how excited, but considering I spontaneously wept during the flying tour of the park on the website... I know. I'm a fail. /o\ But what can I say? It's freaking HARRY POTTER! I still have dreams of being sorted into Ravenclaw!
(We're leaving for the airport in a couple hours because our flight leaves at 6:30am but with all the airport bullshittery that goes on... I just hope I can get a decent cup of coffee. Maybe a good breakfast sandwich. Or a bagel. Or a doughnut. Honestly, I just care about the coffee.)
The only thing I'm a little bummed about is that, even though Val lives in Florida, I still won't get to finally meet her because she lives in Miami, which is still miles away from Orlando. And we didn't get a rental. And even though she has an uncle that lives nearer, her parents don't seem like the cool kind of parents who would let their seventeen-year-old daughter visit their friend from Texas, no matter how harmless she is and regardless of the fact that she has a college degree. So. That will have to happen another time. D: And then Sally's coming down to work at SAW, but she'll be arriving at the end of the week just as I'll in the midst of figuring out how to fit all of the shit into my little messenger bag that I could've sworn was a lot bigger when I left on this trip. Bit of a timing bummer, but hey! Vacation! Outside of Texas!
I was the first to pack. That's how excited I am.
And also, it's not a total bust on meeting people. My cousin's coming to visit and hang with us halfway through the week! She lives near Tampa and the last time I saw her she was neither married nor a mother of two! My dad's also going to go visit his cousin and relatives that live there... It's sort of like an unofficial family reunion of sorts. We'll see how it all goes.
I suppose I should probably do a final check of everything I have and then maybe try to sleep.
Or maybe I'll just do a final check of everything and go back to playing Gemcraft: Labyrinth. That is also an option.
Then again, nobody else is using Netflix right now...
